This guide is focused only in the main KW, but doing it for LSI should bring good results as well.
Google for TF-IDF.

always check the top 3 on your niche.... i think every niche have different rule for keyword density :)
 
i thinks There is neither an ideal percentage nor a one size fits all solution focus on title tags , body content , headings , URLS , meta description , image alt tag... You can use tools like semrush (specifically the audit tool ),site bulb crawler , deep crawl , screaming frog or seo power suite to check for SEO issues. you can analyse and optimize your website

Every niche have different ideal percentage, you just gotta check the first page to understand what works.
 
do you think table of content also affects the keyword density? sometimes we add keywords in the h2, h3 tags and the table of content includes the same titles. so keyword count will be doubled when google sees it.
 
Haven't been able to find a trend for the first page of my niche. I've seen everything from hundreds of instances of (parts of the keyword) to less than 10. I used Google Sheets to calculate instances of the keyword + the full keyword. Here was my results.

Result 1 117
Result 2 95
Result 3 51
Result 4 47
Result 5 138
Result 6 40
Result 7 145
Result 8 47

You're looking at raw numbers - the number of times the keyword appears on a page. You want to instead look at the percentages instead (that tells you the keyword density).

If a keyword appears 10 times on a page with 100 words, that's a keyword density of 10%

If a keyword appears 10 times on a different page that has 1000 words, that's a keyword density of just 1%

Big difference.

A quick shortcut to the problem mentioned by OP is to ensure your stuff is CONVERSATIONAL.

Conversational text is more natural.

You end up making both Googlebot and actual flesh and blood human readers HAPPY

However, you can make stuff even better if you'll optimize it to the average KW density, without making the text being not natural ofcourse.
 
So what actually is the keyword density percentage that is considered ok ,

I saw some of the websites that has higher number like 6% and rank higher while someother has as low as 1.2 % and still they do rank on Google page.

How come !!

Still confused but yeah OPs post did change some of the misconception that i had about KD
 
How about adverb or adjective word ? Should i count it on keyword density ?

By the way, are you sure google serp use keyword density for SEO factor ?
As far as i know, keyword density it's just for against stuffing keyword. And not have ideal percentage for keyword density.

in my niche, it doesnt work..
i try several website in top 10 and search the keyword "A B C"
all websites doesnt have the correct ratio or some got worst ratio 4%+

i don't know how google rank that website..

even few website looks like using AGC and doesn't pass copyscape

Well, that actually depends

It's not that big factor, but it helps Google to recognize what the page about
apart from H1, title, and meta tags. Keyword density is still one of the factors.

But that doesn't mean the higher the better, having a good percentage of 3% of the targeted keyword as the higher used in the text will make a sense that the post/page is talking about this keyword. Going any higher will harm SEO and result in stuffing
So, the point is to make sure that the primary keyword is the most often used in the text but without a high rate.

That goes very well to the parts of the keywords
let's take an example: "SEO Services"
you need to have a good rate of "SEO Services" and it shouldn't be more than 3-5%
However, that goes well to the single words of "SEO" and "Services"
You can always check for single, 2 and 3 words combinations using the tool that I did provide for you (look the link above)
