Quick Question

So i'm thinking about starting a blog on a general topic (e.g gaming) and building blogs around that website via sub domains. I would set up the blogs but use my main blog to fetch content from these "sub" blogs. All the blogs would be posting automatically after i have wrote a few articles for them. Would this idea work? and do blogs on sub domains work well or not? Thanks in advance
