Quick n' Dirty Guide to Charon - Free, Good Proxy Checker

Nice work to rhino and apekillape. Much appreciated. Internal scanning returns about a 2% success rate over 10k ips. I'm okay with that... but was just surprised. Here's to accuracy, accessibility, speed, and invisibility!

Does this mean we should use internal judge or not? The two recomendations conflict.

Are these two filters still good? The post were made quite a while ago.

Yeah - does anyone know where to get the latest UniqueInternetServices.ini and planetlab.ini files?

Thanks

little tip do not use microsoft.com as the page to check http from use google as the guide says. When I used microsoft the program would not work and it took me 2 hours to figure this out... thank god I finally am able to get a good proxy list now tho.

Noob question here regarding anonymous proxies - heh!

I read the "socksification" thread and the directions for finding socks proxies (good info!!). I already understand proxies hide my true IP.

I ran a bunch through Charon (Check Proxies >> Check Anonyminities of Proxies) and found almost 300. However, none came up as "Anonymous" according to Charon (in other words, nothing indicated in the Anon column). My question is, are these socks proxies considered the anonymous proxies we are seeking?

Thanks!

I just ran a large list some of which I got from here others I got from elsewhere on then net some dated as released as today.
All of them came back as bad....

Is there any point in searching out free proxies in this day and age seeing as a lot more people know about the usefulness of them?

Is it not much simpler to buy some shared ones on a Monthly plan or other?

Not kocking Charon or the work put in by the originator(s) of this thread but BH these days is results balanced against time. All the time you are putting in searching out free proxy's is time wasted in pursuing more worthwhile projects, particulary when you can pick up low cost ones?

To be honest if I want a movie or a piece of commercial software (most of the stuff we use doesn't appear there) I go to Newzbin and get the nzb file.I know I will get what I am after and with minimal resources in tracking it down.
On that basis I am happy to pay Newzbin a modest fee in being allowed access to their NZB search engines.

Isn't it time to face up to the best all round solution, even though it may not be free?
I don't have to pay Newzbin and I could go into usenet and look for what I need but again it is time and resources.

Isn't it time we faced up to the same strategy with proxies?

Hey. Thanks for this info. I wish I had found this section first when I joined BHW. Would have saved me $80 that I spent on proxy software and a dozen "FUCK YOU VISTA!" screaming fits. Its a shame that its not in the sidebar for the forum. This subforum is crucial reading for all noobs and for me personally its been the most useful thing in the whole forum to date. I say this because lack of quality proxies, and knowledge of how they work, etc has kept me from effectively applying so many other good methods shared here. Big thanks again.

I Agree and Second that!

This may be a dumb question but I cannot work out how to save/export the filtered proxy list in a ip>port>anon>country format - it only seems to allow three export options?

this program still working, i tested to import some proxies from this forum, all were crashed

The proxies here get burned very quickly so try to find another source !

And also change the "Check against the site" to google instead of micr0soft if you haven't done it already.

How many proxies usually i have to test before finding a ANON one ?

The last 80 returned all to be not anon
Or maybe i'm using in a wrong way the software ? is it enough to set internal judge for a reliable anon test ?
THank you

I'm curious if its worth my time too, I suppose it depends on how people are using the proxies.

What is everyone using the proxies for, just blog back links or?

Just wanted to add if you are looking for external judges try this in google

allinurl:azenv.php

or

allintitle:AZ Environment variables 1.04
