Quick n' Dirty Guide to Charon - Free, Good Proxy Checker

The "site" field is for a specific test you can add in via the menu on the left. It tests whether you can connect to a specific site or not via the proxy you're testing.

I'm on a foreign machine at the moment, when I get back I'll put up an example with pictures.

Awesome post OP! So now, is searching the internet for proxy's the most efficient way, or posting a proxy list?

Hi apekillape ,
Do you use Tor instead of proxies ? Do you think Tor can hide our IP very well ? I'm currently useing Tor and my IP is changing automaticlly all the time without needing looking for new proxies !

I am completely against TOR, TOR's parents, and whoever TOR voted for in the November election.

I cannot get the original links for dcsproxy dot com to load. Will that make a big difference in the results I get from the program?

Thanks for the great tutorial here. I just scanned a list of 8000 ecent proxies and it came out with 100 anon. Unfortunatly most of these will only let me browse one site!!

I put google in as check against but they still came up. How can I remove these from the list. Again thanks so much for this tutorial. excellent material.

Hi - what are the ideal settings for Charon to gather U.S. Non-Codeen Proxies? Or just non-codeen proxies in general. I'm a total noob so forgive me if this is like 101 stuff. I've searched around and I can't really find anything. NON-CODEEN are most important. Is there another name for these as well?

I am confused on it.

I think I followed the tot, But do something with the judge then start checking, always pop up the error message, said invalid judge..., I did what should do for it, but the judge section always empty, where is my judge which I had tested?

I imported more than 5700 proxy IPs which comes from Proxy Finder Enterprise, contining click "ok" to the invalid popup message...

I don't know what's wrong ...

Any help:eek:

This is an updated Planetlab filter, just copy the text and overwrite it with what's in your file.
That's pretty much it. Just sort by country when you're done and take the ones you want.

How about using Hotspot Shield? Can be a bitch to uninstall unless of 'cos if you use Revo uninstaller (excellent IMHO).

I have been using HSS and apart from the annoying ads it displays, it works brilliant!

Proxies that require authentication were reported as good, why?
e.g.:
64.79.197.37:34251

You try testing that against the site check? It should rule out things like that.

Hey. Thanks for this info. I wish I had found this section first when I joined BHW. Would have saved me $80 that I spent on proxy software and a dozen "FUCK YOU VISTA!" screaming fits. Its a shame that its not in the sidebar for the forum. This subforum is crucial reading for all noobs and for me personally its been the most useful thing in the whole forum to date. I say this because lack of quality proxies, and knowledge of how they work, etc has kept me from effectively applying so many other good methods shared here. Big thanks again.

BTW: I read on the dcs forum for about an hour too. Lorissa scares the Sh$%t out of me.

Guys, i have follow what the instruction mention but when i click 'Check anonymity of all proxies', it did not come out any list. strange..any help here?

Also as i am using winxp 64, does it have any effect on it? One thing to note that i am using my office connection which mean that's a router on it. [This include my home as well] Does this has any effect on it?

Also i went to those free IP address tracker, whenever i paste my ip in the IP address and reopen to double check the IP. It's different what i paste. Any ideas why like this?
Appreciate someone can help. Thanks

Ok I was looking for a good proxy. I am completely noob when it comes to setting up proxies and different terminology related to this but I'm usually good at following most any direction to set up anything.

Anyway I was doing good until I got to the part about finding the lowest azenv 1.04. I found one proxy with 78 pings. However that is a bad address. So I moved that proxy to the unused list. Mostly all the addresses are bad. I try to copy and paste all the proxies again to the judge section to start the process over and now all the proxies including the one I sent to the top have a ping of 0. When I do the very last step to test none of the ip's are there and the program is not doing anything. Can you plese help?

The best thing is to just install the judge on your own server. That way, it will be fast and will not slow down your checking.
You can download it here, or just get the updated list of judges from there.

wow that's fantastic. I had google open in one tab looking for a proxy checker and then i stumble across this. I love perfect timing.

If I'm reading this correctly, you're pasting the proxy list to the judge section? That'd have a lot to do with your struggle.

The proxy list goes into the main, gigantic window. You paste the list of judges I linked into the judge window.

Unless of course you selected Internal Judge in the connection settings, which is generally preferable. Then you don't need to bother with the Judge section at all.
