Yes that is very useful for getting new related subreddits, can also be automated: scrape posters from sub => get other subs the posters posted to => scrape posters....
when he ever mentioned DM ?

I never mentioned DM'ing people on Reddit in my original post.
Instead, I focus on finding relevant subreddits where I can establish credibility by HELPING OTHERS with relevant info.

Well, it's a nice trick, but you have several other methods for finding an additional subreddits in that niche. The easiest is to check this website https://subredditstats.com/subreddit-user-overlaps/nrl and just type your main subreddit. You will get a list of the similar subreddits ranked by a similarity rating. Second option is just typing the wanted keyword in the search window and then follow the posts with that keyword in it.

Well, not exactly a hack but many Reddit marketers tend to overlook this...
