When I say consumer proxies what I mean really is like super publicly accessible and popular proxies. Providers here on BHW marketplace would be a great place to start for finding good 4G providers, just do some due diligence and look at the reviews.
Remember you can read as much as you'd like but you only really learn by doing. Find a proxy provider that looks suitable and give it a try, if it doesn't work out, learn from it and try another until you find your source. That's how a lot of us do it, just takes time

This is in the thread but I'll reiterate no probs. If you're new don't touch IPv6, they are tough to automate with unless you have a lot of experience.
No probs! I would always use a proxy brother if you do automation. You can use your home IP and would most likely be fine, but if for whatever reason something goes wack then your home IP is at risk for any future automation. Better be safe than sorry

I'm about to start my journey on IG. I want to build an IG farm, start testing and experimenting on a small scale before starting and I'm still missing some informations before starting the testing phase as I'm really trying to have a thorough understanding of how IG detect bots as well as what could leave footprints.
I have a small question regarding proxies. @BlackGrumps I hope you won't mind me asking about this it's really a noob question and hope you'll be able to help me.
From my understanding, and common sense, rotating proxies would look more natural to IG as your cellular phone change IP address every time you turn off/on the connection. Static proxies would be more suspicious.
However, using rotating proxies could leave a footprint if your pool is not enough.
Am I understanding this right?
Would the benefits of using static proxies outweigh those drawbacks?

No problem brotha. My honest advice would be to go to the marketplace and look at the current providers within your budget. Look at the reviews, and test a couple until one works for your project the best. You will always learn better from experience.
I honestly would not overthink the rotating vs static proxy debate right now. Dip your feet in the water and try a couple providers and I'm positive you'll find one that suits your project needs

Always use mobile proxies. I can't think of any other proxy that would be better than this. Worst proxies: ipv6 datacenter.

Q1 - If I use mobile phone hotspot (say, I set-up old smartphones I don't need and use them as hotspot/ or proxy if possible) they are technically BETTER than 4G proxy you buy online, right?
Q2 - How many acc's (fresh and/or warm-ups) is it safe to run per smartphone hotspot (maybe with Jarvee)?

Yes you can create your own but there is a lot of technical knowledge you will need to learn first to do that. I'm pretty sure there's a book on the marketplace that teaches you this as well. I typically will do less than 5 per 4G, but it depends on your provider. Some I only use 1 account per proxy, this is mainly for account management.
If you're just getting into automation, don't try and reinvent the wheel at the start, first do what has been tried and tested to get you some experience, and then once your comfortable you can start really nitpicking about the details

No nitpicking/reinventing here lol. I'm really just starting out with 2-3 accounts and little budget. So I was thinking instead of starting big with VPS, Proxies 4G, and whatsoever (for only 2-3 accs), use the spare laptop I don't use with a phone that I don't use
And when time will come, move on to proxies, VPS and scale.

Definitely an option, awesome to see you're thinking small and learning first before you ramp it up. I will just add that the way you are planning on doing it will be a little more difficult, with less resources to help you out as it is a little nontraditional. But i wish you the best of luck!

Those are some steps that can save you time if you are new to IG and don't know which direction you should go with proxies.

I'm personally not sure of how to do this. I know there is a techy way of finding out usually if anyone can join in and advise you on that.
I do know that a lot of the proxies that claim to be 'dedicated' or 'private' are usually still shared amongst a pool. Not saying this is the case for yours but just be cautious brother.
