Hi,

I just got my first Pinterest account and I want to start promoting my websites to make money with the traffic from Pinterest, but I don't know how to approach this.

For example, I have 4 websites in 4 totally different niches (not even remotely related to each other) and I would obviously want to promote all 4 of them through the same Pinterest account. So, how do I do this? I mean, I have a faint idea that creating one board for each niche / website might help, but then what? How do I actually drive the traffic to my websites? Do I just post some images and then wait? Or what?

Any tip, small or big, is greatly appreciated, so please share! Also, if you know of a good beginner's guide to Pinterest that is up-to-date please share with mere mortals like me and God will see your good deed and reward you greatly :)

I already spent a couple of hours on this sub-forum and, while I did learn a few things about using Pinterest, most of them are outdated as I understood that Pinterest have changed their algorythm in October??

make an account for each site, so 4 Pinterest accounts. populate the accounts with relevant boards and fill the boards with pins. after a few days and several pins on every board, convert the accounts into business account (free). and claim each website on the specific account. i.e website A claimed on account A. start pinning your website posts/pages.

that's what I do. I don't get much traffic from Pinterest though...

I can have more accounts at the same time??? I mean, from the same IP? I thought this was not allowed, cause if it is... hell yeah I'm gonna do it xD

Also, by "populate with relevant boards" do you mean that I should make more than one board for each site?? What's the point in having more boards with the name weight loss 1, weight loss 2, weight loss 3, etc?

pinning is the only way to do it as far as i know,
also, you can rank these pins into google with some cheap links

Ok. Do I still need to do "on page" SEO for the pins to rank them for the keywords I want, or will they rank for the terms that google decides?

Also, I saw earlier someone mentioned something about hashtags. Any idea how to use these? (they seemed important, and a new addition to Pinterest)

An optimised title and description will do the work as this all what you can add to the pin,
hashtags will help within the search on Pinterest app/website itself

they're 3 years old :(

Thanks for your trouble, though.

Anyway, I did gather some good info from this forum so I'm going to start pinning stuff today. Hopefully I won't get banned so quickly lol

I have many accounts, but I have dynamic IP addresses. I use my home connection when making the accounts, but later I use VPN after they are a bit older.
Board is like 'category' in your blog, if you only have 1 category, maybe you don't need multiple boards.

ah-ha! I'm starting to see the big picture, here. I actually have several categories on 2 websites, and only one category on the other 2. Thank for the great tips :)

I do not really think that having 1 account per 1 niche website would make any difference in terms of traffic. On the contrary, running multiple accounts will sooner or later backfire when they update their algorithm once again. As I see it, there is no problem in having 1 account for all of your websites with separate boards for each of them. Besides, Pinterest have a feature called 'Linked accounts" that you can legitimately use if you have multiple websites. What really matters though is pinning ORIGINAL content. The captions, hashtags, titles can all be the same, but the picture must be fresh and unique. BTW what are your niches?

I am concerned about safety more than about traffic. Well, I'm concerned about traffic, too because if I can't get eyeballs to my websites what's the point in using pinterest to begin with? And if I had to choose I would definitely go with only 1 account cause it's more easily manageable, but everyone seems to agree that 1 website per pinterest account is the safe way to do pinterest advertising. So, I'm going to stick with that.

My niches... um... am I allowed to tell??

You can have multiple linked accounts and switch between them without logging out, i.e. there's no need to have all that hassle with VPNs, proxies, etc. And you can have one personal and no more than 4 linked business accounts too (which is exactly what you need):

My niches... um... am I allowed to tell??

Well, just asking out of curioisity, you can keep this to yourself or share with us, no questions asked really :)

well, that's great news actually. I had no idea :D .... Question: can I link more than 4 accounts, or 4 is the maximum?

I guess I could share the niches (won't give the websites' URLs, though :p)... One niche is general, while the other 3 are.... 1) self improvement, 2) arts / crafts / hobbies, 3) pregnancy

As far as I understand, it is max 4 _business_ accounts, not personal that you can link, but I am not 100% sure. Try searching their help section, I guess it must be explained somewhere.

Consider checking out my web app if you need some content for your pins (I am not trying to sell you anything here though :) - I recently added Pinterest as one of available options with 2:3 picture ratio (exactly as they like it).

got it! And yeah, I'll check your app. Thanks for the tips :)

Hi, I would like to suggest you that 1 website with 1 Pinterest account, since Pinterest has greatly stressed the importance lately of claiming your website with your account, and you can only have one domain tied to each account. Claiming your website gives you access to features like website analytics so you can get additional information on how people are interacting with your website on Pinterest. It also shows Pinterest that your account is the authority figure for that website.

I think the idea of having 4 Pinterest account will be bad, you will be lack of focus to grow several Pinterest account. My suggestion just chooses 2 niches so you will have to manage 2 Pinterest account, I think you still can manage it without feeling overwhelmed.

Regarding driving traffic to your website, always optimize keywords on your Pinterest profile, board, and title, ensure your pin image looks attractive and bring curiosity. You should be able to drive traffic from Pinterest if done it correctly.

thanks for tips... Question: if I claim a website and my Pinterest account gets banned will I be able to claim the same website with a different pinterest account that I'll create afterwards, or is the website banned too? I always wondered this :D
