Questions about SEO keywords

I got questions about picking keywords.

1. Let's say I want to use keyword (dont look at grammar of these examples): "best running shoes" <-- Let's say this keyword has 1000 searches per month with low competition. Then I see second one keyword: "best shoes running" <- words changed its places, this phase has 600 searches per month with low competition aswell. Should I do SEO for both of them, or maybe "best running shoes" is enought and It gonna work same as that second keyword? I hope you know what I mean, both keywords are same, the difference is only beetween two words which are placed in a different order.

What is better? Let's say I want to use ONE of these keywords:
- Best woman shoes 2014
- Woman shoes

Tell me, is that "Best woman shoes 2014" works same as "Woman shoes"? If I make seo for "Best woman shoes 2014", is it gonna work same or better than "woman shoes"? Im asking because If I want to find some keywords I got problem like this: best woman shoes / woman shoes / best children shoes / children shoes
Should I use ALL of them? Maybe one keyword with "BEST" is enought than putting second one without "BEST"?
If I use "Best woman shoes", shall I use "Best children shoes" aswell or I dont have to use "BEST" again and again?

2. How many keywords should I use for my website? I think 5 would be good but I am not sure. Look:

My website is about product which has 4 categories: Sport shoes, Men shoes, Women Shoes, Children shoes.
Each category has it own articles, so if you go to Sport Shoes category, you'll find there articles only about Sport Shoes, you'll not find there any informations about shoes for children etc.
Shall I pick 5 keywords per each category? For example for category: Men shoes I'm gonna use 5x keywords targeted only for this category (men shoes, the best shoes for men, cheap men shoes, nike men shoes, reebook men shoes) and these keywords I will use in articles about men shoes. In category about children shoes Im gonna use different 5 keywords targeted only for this category. Totally it gonna give me 4 categories * 5 keywords = 20 total keywords for 4 categories.
Is it right what I just wrote here?

Shall I make SEO for my website (title/meta/h1 h2 etc) with basic keywords? I mean to use keywords like "Sport Shoes", "Best summer shoes", "the cheapest shoes" only for WEBSITE, and targeted keywords like "cheap children shoes" only for articles? I hope there is someone who can asnwer for this question, honestly I got many questions all time but I have no idea if I can ask about it here or in different place.

Go for keywords with high search volumes but at the same time, do not disregard those with medium ones as they could also bring in good traffic volumes.

Yes you are right I think. You should use five best keywords for each categories. So that you can get traffic for that particular category from all possible sources( searches).

1) Even if you change a single word in your keyword, it becomes totally different. If you want, you could do SEO for both of them, but doing just one will not directly affect the other. If they're similar enough, you might be able to rank for both if you're lucky, and most likely you'll get long-tail keywords ranked too.

2) You can use as many keywords as you want, but be wary of optimizing too many pages for the same keyword.

3) Nope, does not count. Two totally different keywords, the EMS is different.

4) It's up to you, you can do both. But if you want to focus on one, pick the one you feel you'll be able to rank for easier and will give you better traffic.

My answers aren't extremely specific, but I hope it points you in the right direction.

These kind of situations happen often. You have group very similar keywords and target them in article. Take the best keyword and use others as sub keywords for that article.

Just choose one. The keywords "women shoes" and "best women shoes" are very different. Pick one and stick with it. I would go with best because you dont need to compete with big ecommerce players.

I dont target categories or home page. I only target inner articles. How ever I wouldnt go more than 3 keywords for a category. Others will rank automatically. Trying to optimize the page for 5 keywords can be tricky.

You can target generic words to your homeapge. Better way for home page links is giving your brand (sitename) as anchor.

Of course not. But you wont be able to rank shoes easily. But best shoes for men is easy.

use both. But it doesnt matter. Google understands these words. You will get pretty much same results for bot keyowrds. So if you rank for one, you will rank for both.
