Questions about Google News

I was lucky enough to have 1 google discovery day and I had a lot of reading. But today it's dead calm. Impossible to be in google new or discovered with my articles. Yet I rank well in the serp

You can submit normal articles to Google News.

But if you want those articles to actually draw traffic, you have to do the following.

First, make sure that they are directly related to the niche of your new site.

For example, if your new site is all about the latest crypto information and your articles are about how to groom dogs, there's going to be a problem.

The second thing that you need to wrap your head around involves the type of article that you're going to be publishing.

The article must summarize or somehow act as a guide to the general topic of the news that you normally publish.

For example, if you have a forex news site where you normally publish semi-automated content regarding the direction of the stock market or other stuff that can easily be drawn from automated data sources, then it would make sense for your articles to focus on forex guides, market guidance or "analyst summaries."

I hope you understand what I'm getting at.

You can't just publish random articles and expect your Google News site to do well.

From what I can gather from different publications, nowadays, you don´t need to submit your site to Google News Publisher Center. Instead, you need to focus on implementing some basic and actionable steps in order to be considered...

• News-worthy articles should be served from a separate subfolder than the blog like "/news"
  • Avoid publishing content like guides, how-to, or informational articles in general
• NewsArticle schema should be implemented. Although Article schema is fine as well you need to make sure to markup some important and news-relevant fields into it
• Publish daily!
• Create and submit a news sitemap to GSC
• Publish content using multiple authors and not just one
  • Also make sure each of those authors has their own, unique, relevant, and fully optimized author/bio page
• Make sure the content is "crawlable"

Again, submitting the site to Google News Publishing Center is NOT required but it's advisable.

You talking about instant indexation, I mean is that even a thingy...? Does it happen...? Doesn't google take like sometime before indexing anything...?

Did you read everything it all explain over these two pages even a link to apply for news indexing.

It was a blog with 30 info articles that started in November. No new articles since February. I just submitted and waited, didn't have any expectations. It got approved in like 8 days, they never send an email, you have to check.

I did not see any traffic increase, and on news.google.com there's only the homepage and one article indexed.
Posted a few articles, and they show indexed in google, but not on news.

Seems you really have to use that sitemap.

I'm just not sure how to go about doing it for info articles, as that's my main objective, to index stuff quickly.
Everyone was talking about google news blogs, and how they index in 5 minutes.

Just not happening for me, or I'm doing something wrong.

That's why I ask the experts here, maybe there's something I'm missing?
is there a catch? Or do I really have to write news? And include links to what I want to index from those articles? Because I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.

So you didn't get a Google News website. You only get a Publisher Center approval, which is totally different. You website is to Google News approved. Since 2019, there is no possibility to be approved in Google News anymore.
