An aged domain of 24 years will likely have more chance of ranking than a new domain, but it is also HIGHLY likely it has been spammed/abused in that time.
Do a quick site:example.com search to see if it is indexed or not, if it hasn't been registed for years then no results would be normal, but if it has been in the past year or so and no result then it's probably been deindexed.
Next step is to check it on
http://web.archive.org basically for evey year, any p0rn, gambling, pharma, fake goods, or Chinese text then I would just avoid wasting time and money on it.
Next check Ahrefs and SemRush for backlinks pointing to it, do they look natural or spammy?
There are THOUSANDS of dropped domains each day, mosts are trash, don't waste your time on a shitty domain just because it has tons of backlinks or 'good' metrics (these can always be manipulated).
