let's look at sample website:
http://www.cbdmovers.com.au
using ahrefs, you can see lots of backlinks from blogs:
https://akkus-adapter.com/https://superbikeitalia.com/https://happysugarhabits.com/etc. etc..

So why are PBNs links private when you purchase them from BHW vendors?
What am I missing?

PBN means Private Blog Network.. Or do you want it to be public so google can deindex your site as you are trying to get illegal ranking using on a PBN?!

Competitor report to Google
Competitor spam links Blast
Competitor investigation
Saving time providing reports ^_^
keep it 'private'

These are just a few

Did you expect them to put all the information about possibilities to buy backlinks straight on the websites with price lists?)
Nowadays, PBNs try hard to hide their PBN nature from Google, and still it is often revealed..

the point of a real PBN is that its private and only you have access to it.

Generally to avoid competitor reports to Google and reports in general for suspicious linkbuilding practices

I am asking something else..
See the examples I've posted.
Do we know if these blogs are PBNs or not?
No..
They all link to the domain cbdmovers.com.au, they all look like blogs for outgoing links..
So what's the difference between them to a PBN?
If I was a competitor, I could report them couldn't I?

(This is just a *sample* website i've found.. I am not a competitor of this website!)

those info are PRIVATE
Hence why they call it PBN

Agree , something is missing here. Are they "private" anymore when you can see 'em in ahrefs?

The main reason is to prevent your competitors from reporting the PBN and taking it down,
Another thing is to hide your tactic, anchors, content, etc... which would make it easier for the competitors if they do find out about

These are cheap PBN probably sold around $1 per post. If you don't block ahrefs, semrush, etc. crawlers from your site you don't know what you're doing...
The blogs you posted are backlinks of poor quality but since everybody on BHW is only talking about PBN, some sellers just use the word on their thread and pretend it's gonna magically increase your ranking.
You could call them "Guest post on spammed website" that would be more accurate

Private blog network is collection of blogs (or) website that owned and operated by someone (can be any one) just to pass out all link juice to one single blog or money site. but you need to check if its private or public sites. lol

This is the cheapest one and to avoid the competitor to report to Google for the suspicious building links..

They're just blogs, not a PBN.

PBNs have to be private because most of them, if not all, are built on expired domains.

They don’t want SEO tools to be able to spider them.

Their job is to give their customers the link juice that they need to get the upper hand in the dog-eat-dog world of search rankings.

That's the bottom line!

In fact, you should be suspicious if a link vendor exposes a large chunk of their blog network—either that person is sloppy or doesn’t know what he’s doing.

None of these situations are good.

You should only do business with people who are very discreet when it comes to PBN-based link building.
