Question: Where to Point Powerful Backlink

Context:
I have a blog with 3 different topics. These topics in and of themselves have entire industries built around them however for my niche they all closely relate. Because of this the topical relevancy of my homepage "could" be considered split into thirds. However my category pages only contain extremely similar article summaries.

Question:
I have secured a backlink from a very powerful site that is built solely on one of the 3 topics, but I am unsre the best place to point the link. Assuming I do not want to point the link directly to the article would I be better off pointing it to my similar category page or should I have it point to my home page?

Homepage links with branded anchor are always a safe way to go.

you can go either way (homepage or category) but it makes more sense to point it to the category page. I mean, that's where I would point it, but you point it where you want and it will still be fine

Homepage sounds better.
But you need to understand that it might not be enough for general success. Once you have such powerful backlinks - do not stop and keep doing the things.

Point every powerful link to your homepage with brand anchor. Don't take any other advice.

if not to the article, then the homepage is the only option.

Point link to homepage with less competition anchor text. If you have internal links to other page, Link juice will pass through the page which has links from home page i.e., home page.
