Question regarding 301 redirects

Hi guys,

I want to try some 301 redirects to increase the power of some websites and I'd like to know your opinions on some things. I'd appreciate answers from people who have experience with 301 redirects (who have actually done it themselves and know what to expect).

My questions:

1) Can one website get more 301 redirects pointed to different pages without getting penalized?
Let's say I have the following setup (the website already exists and has backlinks and some rankings):
mywebsite.com
mywebsite.com/page1.html
mywebsite.com/page2.html
mywebsite.com/page3.html
What do you think happens if I redirect one domain to mywebsite.com/page1.html, another domain to mywebsite.com/page2.html and another domain to mywebsite.com/page3.html ?
Theoretically, each page will get a huge boost in power, but will this mean my domain gets suspect and penalized?
The domains I want to redirect are not related to my website but they have high Trust Flow (higher than the Citation Flow).

2) Can one website get more 301 redirects pointed to the homepage without getting penalized?
I mean, if I redirect 3 different domains to mywebsite.com to transfer huge power, will the website be penalized? Let's assume I do this with some time difference between the redirects (add the second redirect after two months and the third after another 3 months).

3) If I have a powerful site with good PR, DA, PA, TF, CF and many backlinks from various sources (comments, PBN, web 2.0, guest posts, etc.) that ranks for its keywords around the places 5 to 15 (high competitive keywords and high spammed niche like MMO) and I redirect another powerful domain with good PR, DA, PA, TF, CF and many backlinks (but from o total different niche and topic) to it, what will happen?
Will my website get penalized? Will it get a huge boost in serps because of the added power?

Any qualified opinion will be appreciated. I'm new into 301 redirects so I'd like to hear from more experienced people.

You're worrying too much, just do it and if you don't like the results remove the 301s.

I have a site with multiple 301s to multiple pages and never worried about 301ing too many domains at once either by the way.. even with a brand new site.

Is your site with multiple 301s doing well in search results? Did it help it rank?

If I do a 301 and then I remove it, won't this be similar to a link that gets removed? It's not good to have many powerful links pointed at your site and then having them removed. This can cause penalties. I'm assuming that a redirect from a powerful domain acts the same way. Or it doesn't?

Yes the site is ranking well, but the effect of multiple 301s is not really as i would have expected all the same. I expected the extra link juice to noticeably flow across all pages / boost the entire site, since i have the 301s pointing to all my main category pages, but they just seem to boost the specific pages that they are pointing to and that's all.

On another site i have tested removing and adding, removing and re-adding 301s and there has been no penalty for doing so.. just a drop in rankings, followed by a quick return in rankings once the 301s are put back in place. (A few days wait)

Even if some people rank with this method, it's still not safe.

Have you ever tried multiple redirects to a single page? I'm curious if the power adds up or if the site gets busted.

1. It won't get your site penalised but your site will surely get penalised if it's manually reviewed by a Google employee.

2. It's very unnatural for one domain to have 3 redirects to the same page on the domain (the homepage in this case), therefore a penalty is likely. Besides, multiple 301s won't do anything special for your rankings in my experience.

3. I did stuff like that last year and it worked like a charm. I tried it earlier this year and the reverse was the case. Since then, I haven't redirected any expired domains to my sites.

Almost non-existent. Mr. Two Accounts there is just overly cautious.

301 is not safe,is not going to guarantee any ranking and the site that get the redirect's matter a lot.
as ex - i had a site with PA/DA 57/61 and it was ranked for its keywords top 5 , for month's.after that it got penalized,not de indexed,but never could rank it again.after that i redirected to a new domain that i bought , with keywords in domain name.after 2-3 weeks the new domain ranked same position that was the penalized domain ranked,i spammed to death the 301 domain and the rank goes to #1 and was dancing #1#2 for 3 months ( i cashed in a lot for a new domain lol ,around 18-25k /3months) .after 3 months the new domain got hit too so i removed the redirect. i tried after that redirecting it to other 3-4 new and old domains with no luck .1 week ago i changed again the redirect to another domain with no keywords in domain name and guess what , after 2 days the new domain start ranking but not as it did first time ,# 5 for 1 keyword and # 36 for the main keyword ,it still stuck there even i done and still doing tons of spam on it.my conclusion,you can win for sure from a 301 redirect ,not for long ,but enough to get some cash.i have just one question for myself,why from 3-7 redirects i tried just 1 got a better rank,5 never gained any rank and again the last site ,where the redirect is done at this moment is staying on same positions without moving up or back? maybe the old domain is not strong like before,i saw was losing some PA/DA over last few months even i still spam it a lot,but looks like is losing lots of links every day.still trying to figure out why from 7 domains ,only 2 got ranked and 5 not.

You always need links to a new domain though on top of the 301s - no matter how strong the 301s are. Some people say you lose link juice through 301s, but i don't see it that way. I see it that google needs to see that your new site is worthy of ranking on its own, and not just on the merit of the 301d domains.

No one can tell you without testing it. so test it yourself and tell what happened. If it works, leverage it.

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences. It is obviously worth giving it a try. I will try different setups in the following months and see for myself how it works.
