Here are two of the most obvious options to monetize your php skills directly :
- Create cool apps and sell them (on your own site or on a specialized marketplace such as codecanyon)
- Sign up to elance and/or similar freelancing site and work as a freelance php coder (php is one of the most wanted skills there)

Thanks for your inputs. the problem is what kind of plugin/app I should make. I'm out of idea now. I've created account on elance too.

I specialize in WP development myself, and I often face the same problem: being out of idea as to what plugin to create.
Though offering your services to clients allows to make some bucks while avoiding this problem, and can trigger ideas that you can use after project completion to create your own apps to sell.
JVs are another interesting path to follow, I've had several good apps that came out of a JV with someone with a great idea but no coding skills.
