Bro i think you got the wrong place to ask this, i can get you online doctor if you want to ask him.

My vision is getting weaker every day, and I don’t want to end up blind. I’m considering having a Lasik surgery. Did anyone undergone such operation? Do you think it’s worth it? ($1900 for both eyes)

$1900.00 is pretty cheap if you ask me.

I had it done 7 years ago and paid $4,500.00... painless but a strange sensation when you smell the burning.

I went from not being able to see the big "E" on an eye chart to 20/30 in my right eye and to 20/20 in my left but I still have to wear reading glasses as they (at the time anyway) can only fix one end or the other.

To me it was worth it and I'd do it again if I had to make that choice.

No, but I have been thinking about it. My biggest fear however are the possible side effects, the most extreme one especially.

Not really an useful answer and based on you starting this post I assume you’ve have been thinking about this too.

That’s what got me skeptical myself. I can’t imagine life as a blind person. Literally everything I do requires using my eyes.

There is also an option where they place a lens behind the Cornea. They attach them with very small cramps. Only downside to that would be getting punched in the eye and end up loosing your vision, so whatch out with your routine weekend bar fights.

Again, I’m overly pessimistic. Part of my nature I guess.

Edit: I’m referring to Visian ICL (Implantable Contact Lens).

LASIK is good but if you have time these are my suggestions 1) Apply your morning spit on your eyes and no I'm not kidding it's very effective, eat carrots and more carrots, walnuts and oranges.

Next google for eyes exercises and do them three to four hours if yiu can do more do it.

See if this is helping mostly it'll help.

Ps see all docs will have specs so will their relatives ever wonder why....

i did my laser many years ago, it was lasik vs PRK, i chose PRK back then.... do your own research today... my eyesight is still very sharp

today i would actually urge you to consider non invasive therapy... look up yuan shi dian medicine (origin point therapy), closely related to chinese traditional medicine.... thanks to that i never need any pharmaceuticals or operations

best of luck

Just started to use Reading Glasses and I am vain as fuck, so yeah am considering it but am still a bit of a pussy with the thought of a laser beam burning directly into my eyeball.

Would sound stupid, but did you try doing something like yoga and herbal stuff?

My mom at 40 had a test and it came out to be -2.5 in both the eyes.
Fast forward to 2-3 years, it was -0.5 in both the eyes, I believe.

If I remember correctly, 2 years back a doctor told her she has a possibility of Cataract in her left eye.
and in 6 months or so, the doctor was actually surprised to find nothing and just improvement :O

She did Yoga and used to regularly put drops of Drishti (means vision in hindi and is available in India only). It's a product with mixed reviews, people said they've had infection due to, while my mother's eyes are pretty good rn.

I myself am sketchy about the product, it's painful as fuck (you would scream after putting only 1 small drop of it)

Recently a friend of mine(15-16) had an improvement after using Dhristi, not with the power of eyes but; improvement with being able to watch digital screens and feel no pain at all.

Anyway, I don't want to sound like a promoter of that product, just wanted to put in a perspective.

PS : Drishti costs like $1 lol.

Now coming to your original post, LASIK. Yes, a cousin and a family friend got it done nearly around a decade back.
My cousin would definitely recommend it while the uncle (family friend) had to undergo 3-4 surgeries afterwards and didn't see any major improvement in his eyesight.
I believe the LASIK tech has become better in last 3-4 years (at least it did in India)

My ex got it 10 years ago when we were still together. It worked so well she could finally see what I looked like then dumped me. Based on her comments when we spoke last week, the Lasik has held up well.

10/10 good results unless you're ugly

One o

I never heard about this Dhristi product though I have people in family with eye related problems. Some people I know got it done and it was certainly not for anything like $1900.

Have you had any side effects in these 7 years?

I personally dont have the guts to do it but two close friends got it and said it dries up their eyes like crazy. You still need to wear reading glasses.

Two things I have found out aboit LASIK because I had to search for a family member.

1) LASIK is only recommended for people who have constant eyeglass power throughout. If your vision is becoming worse, the surgery won't fix it and you will end up having glasses again.

2) LASIK thins your corneas out. So, you can't do LASIK for unlimited times.

Hope that helps you too.

I have not.

The first week or something I had to use eyedrops they provided but once those were done things have been fine. Like @hero76 says though I still have to wear reading glasses as all they fixed were my distance issues.

I had been wearing glasses since I was 9 so it is nice to not have to always wear them.

I was also thinking of getting it but decided to only do it as a last resort
