Sorry if this is a question I should know,

So which do you think would be easier to pass up authority like yelp. DA we'll say 34 PA30 with keyword not in url or title but IS NEWLY sprinkled in content. OR... DA 34 PA1 on a new sub page with keyword in URL, Title, H1 and content etc.

Basically the first site would be the root domain / home page of the second site with we will just say 35x referring backlinks shouldnt really matter.

Both start building good links at the same time using the same X% of the keyword as anchor.

Which would rank first?

I'd say the second option. If the site has authority (DA34) all you really need to do to easily rank for anything is make a seperate page for it with proper on-page + a handful of links. Ranking high authority pages, like your homepage, for lots of keywords is possible but it'll take much longer to actually start ranking for terms that are only in your body text.

pros dont spend much time on BHW so you won't get much. Why get into such things? Pick a page and try ranking and you will learn many things.

I think it's a legitimate question. Also, there are plenty of highly skilled people on here, although not all of them are going to get into these public 'one question threads'.

Having the keyword in the URL is not very important. Focus less on metrics and do a link audit of both and see which has the cleaner and stronger backlink profile. Look for stuff like Wikipedia listing, CNN, Dmoz, and niche relevant links. Then look at both in the Waybackmachine and see which site has been niche relevant longest, and make sure it was never a PBN.
