Just depends what how the affiliates are promoting I think, for instance a lot will have email lists so then swipes would be what they want and others will promote via there blog so they need banners etc.
If you are creating an affiliate area for your product I would just add as much as possible to cover all angles.

When it comes to money and promotions, the more the better.
You can use banners, reports, freebies, giveaways, contests, articles and everything you can think of since the more stuff you provide to the affiliates, the better and easier it would be for the affiliates to promote your product eventually bringing in more and more sales.
