Hello experts,
I would like to ask for your advice regarding a client of mine. She offers services like spa treatments and massages and has created a YouTube channel where she regularly uploads content. The content is quite mixed ranging from vlogs to videos about her service meaning the uploads appear somewhat unstructured or random.

My question is does YouTube Grant monetization for this type of channel or content? I'm currently is discussions with her, and she has already uploaded over 50 videos. To be honest, I don't have much prior knowledge about this specific area, thought I have started doing some preliminary research. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

Thank you

Best Regards

I think she can still get monetized as long as the content is original and follows youtube’s policies, but we’d suggest keeping the vlogs and spa videos more organized so the channel has a clear niche.
I understand. However, the issue is that the existing content on the channel lacks significant editing. Some videos use intro templates taken directly from Canva. Surprisingly, though, every video has garnered a good number of views, and the channel has surpassed 7,000 hours of watch time, yet the subscriber count remains comparatively very low. My question is- if I start posting entirely new videos based on a different topic, could it negatively impact the performance of the existing content? However, she has already deleted the spa-related videos on her channel. Could you please offer some advice on this matter?

as far as the spa videos are concerned, there is no algorithm history anymore. changing the topic now will not impact anything since its a new beginning.

there is no need for a variety of videos to automatically disqualify the channel from becoming successful. i would emphasize more on the originality, usefulness nd adherence to utube monettization policies of the content. nonetheless, having a clear theme for the channel can go a long way in helping the channel become popular.

Oh, really? Are you sure about this?
To be honest, I am quite concerned about originality. I am conducting in-depth research on what kind of original elements to incorporate into the content, as the client has left the entire matter to me. He wants to delete the videos previously posted because they lack proper editing. Another issue is that there are two or three videos containing suggestive scenes; as far as I know, and based on YouTube's policies nudity or suggestive, sensitive content can cause problems with monetization. However, he has agreed to re-upload videos to the channel. Please help me out with this.

To be honest, one of the great things about the channel is that its videos have almost millions of views. However, regarding the originality you mentioned, I am currently struggling to figure out exactly what kind of unique elements could be introduced. Could you please help me out with some ideas regarding originality? If you provided a few examples, I could look into the matter further; I’m really finding it hard to come up with something myself.

You can make money from any type of content, provided it is engaging enough to attract viewers. You might consider focusing your channel on the specific topic that draws the largest audience.

Having mixed content in one channel isn't as bad as it used to be that it was almost mandatory to start a secondary channel just for vlogs (for example). As long as there's consistency in the audience the vlogs and other type of content is targeting, it should be more or less alright. More important is if she meets the Partner Program requirements and whether the content complies with monetisation policies.
Not too familiar with spa and massage content, but I'd assume presentation matters for it since some videos could run into advertiser-friendly content restrictions depending on how it's done and presented.

Yes, I have already provided her with several topics and shared examples of channels featuring similar content. Do the topics sourced from tools like TubeBuddy and vidIQ for YouTube actually work well for vlogs and SPA-style content? Do you have any insights on this? Could you please let me know?

Yes, I have discussed this matter with my client. Both of us are quite concerned about the issue of originality. However, I have already provided her with several topics, and she is working on creating informative content. She decided not to take any risks with spa-related content, as such material often involves unconventional elements that YouTube tends not to approve. To be honest, I am not thinking about monetization at all right now; I am fully focused on the content itself.

Yes youtube can monetize a channel with different types of content u just need to follow the monetization rules
having vlogs and service videos is not a problem but the content should be original useful and consistent and
I would focus on clear topics and strong videos instead of deleting old videos just because the channel is mixed

I think her channel is eligible for monetization, but you could also discuss with her the idea of creating a separate channel for vlogs if the content isn't consistent. having consistent content would look more professional.

the mixed topic not automatically stop monetization if the videos are original and follow youtube rules i would still organize the channel around the spa business and keep the vlog connected to that theme so viewers know what to expect

Makes sense, monetisation can be it's own problem later. Would be better to make sure the content reaches it's audience, yeah.
Hope it works out, the algo can be real temperamental in YT. Managed a talent that did ASMR in the side and for some reason Youtube cracked down hard on it. Had to move future uploads to members only.

Her channel can be monetized after meeting the requirements as she is not violating any guidelines, it's you who thinks she is creating mix content but YouTube has categorization for all types of content like daily life vlogging or business handling and personal like etc.

If the viewers are liking her videos and showing interest it can grow and monetized.

I have reviewed several channels that focus exclusively on spa-related content, and I observed that most of them feature suggestive or provocative material. However, since you mentioned that YouTube approves mixed content and that it poses no issues for monetization, I am reconsidering the approach while aiming to maintain originality. Although the client had initially stepped away from the idea of creating spa videos, they have since changed their mind. We are now striving to produce informative content that is free from any obscenity and is edited to a professional standard.

So, which tools would be best for topic research regarding this type of content (specifically for spa and vlogs)—VidIQ or TubeBuddy?
