Question about URL shortening

Hey guys,

Just making this thread to see how the pros handle url shortening for SEO.

I know we dont directly link our websites anywhere unless its the top tiers. And uses shortened URLs on mass blasts and all lower tiers.

How do you manage to make such a lot of shortened urls? And typically how many do you make for a campaign?

You can just Google "Mass URL shortener" for a few options. Scrapebox also has a free mass url shortening tool you can use if you have SB. I personally am not a fan of using url shorteners, but if you have a long URL, it's better to shorten it so you can post more characters on places like Twitter where space is limited.

Thanks for the reply mate. So dont you use a shortened url for using in your SEO campaigns? Do you use your url directly?

Still room for it. If you can offer more services with 301 redirects then people will use it. Not as powerful as they once were but still useful.

I would love some more inputs on this :) Like what is lacking now, and what people would like more.
 
I think some of the shortners closed their API's exactly for this issue (mass shortening). That said, bit.ly offers a 10k limit/mo I guess.
There is also a case study done by one of the members on using 301 shortners to web 2.0's and ranking them. here, if you want to read more into that.

I am actually a PHP coder and I was in the works of making a panel, where user can enter links, and get them shortened over hundreds of url shortners out there. But I hear they arent that useful like it was before. So I think I am about to hit a dead end? I am not into SEO myself, so I am not sure if I should continue with this or just drop it.
