Question about Google index and niche

Suppose there was a domain about "mindfulness"

Now the domain is expired and deindexed from Google.

Does Google remember what the domain was previously when you register it again?

Or can you give it a new niche of your choice since it is not indexed on Google?

of course they know. Google track everything about everyone and they have access to the history of any domain that is / was in their index.

And changing the niche is a bad idea, by the way. Change it and everything that was good (topical relevance, backlinks and anchor texts relevance, etc) about this domain is gone forever!

It's still in their index but they don't show it anymore.
I would advise against changing the main niche

So many people trying to make money with expired money. Google will not let it remain easy and will add penalties for these.

That's why we have web archive right?

they will know about ur previous domain

yes. if that domain had a site selling illegal pills/drugs, or informative like wikipedia, or educational site or a car/automobile site, google does have a record of history as google would analyze the backlinks to it and majority would be from similar topic/niche.

google stores: whois changes, dns changes, ip, registrant names, location, and also the users' searches made on google.com in the past to arrive at your site. Suppose the site was about Cars, and users came to your site by searching keywords/terms like buy ford cars, buy honda cars, etc. It will associate your site/domain for that terms.

So if you want to start a new niche on old domain with earlier site, check if it has any backlinks. if not, good.
Also, if that domain is buycars.com, and you want to start new niche like writing recipes, or selling amazon televisions, then I don't think that would be a good idea unless that a generic name something like internet.com, online.com, go.com, or some made-up brandable domain like kafka.com, etc.
