So, I was wondering how should I open an online store (obviously in the pretense of making money), and the first issue I came across was, well... what do I sell? I had a friend who sells some shit online, and I know he sells Rubik's cubes. From the talk of his experiences, he was doing quite well. From that, I realized three problems: "I need to sell something quite storage-able" (like something small), "I would like to at least have a passion for what I'm selling" (mine friend loved Rubik's cubes btw), and finally "It had to actually be sell-able". I was willing to buy my merchandise in bulk, but it actually needs to be sold. I don't want to lose money so this was my biggest issue. Then I discovered dropshipping. It sounds to good to be true. You get a guaranteed buyer then you buy the merchandise, and you get money, even though you didn't buy in bulk. I LOVE IT. No one buys it, you don't lose anything.

So I want to know your opinions, compared to the traditional retailer selling methods, or whatever you call it, what's the downsides to dropshipping?

Major downside imo is shipping time. It can take up to 60 days to receive the product if you're dropshipping from China (most likely). It'll piss off some customers which means less repeat buyers, so you'll need to be on top of customer support.

No downsides. Dropshipping is the single best business model know to man.

For real though, only possible downsides are payment processor problems and people complaining about the product being dropshipped. Also, when you scale up, it can make sense to switch to traditional warehouse to save on shipping. But that's not really a downside.

Because it is. Tens of thousands of people thought like this and they all failed. I would be surprised if even 5% is successful.

Setting it up is easy being successful takes a LOT!

It barely takes 60 days, it's usually 2-4 weeks, sometimes faster, rarely later. Unless Chinese New year is going on.

Depends on how you dropship. People most of the time think of AliExpress when they hear dropship.

Dropshipping locally from local distributors would be best in sense of quality and delivery time and has less headaches but will cost more and a smaller market.

Guys what do you think which dropshipping is better, through ebay or shopify??

Depends. Shopify is typically more involved and takes longer to master but in my experience has higher rewards.

It is recommended to dropship with your own store (not with any platform), but it is possible to do with wordpress. In this case you will be the full owner of your store, no rules and restrictions.
