    Hey!

I'm a beginner and made my first website 10 days ago. I noticed 7 of my pages are indexed and 2-3 pages are categories.
When i'm looking at the excerpt of these categories on google, it's showing the excerpt of a post from that category.

I have a feeling it's not really SEO-friendly isn't it (duplicate content?)? What can i do to resolve that problem please? I'm using SEO Yoast btw if it helps.
    Thanks.

On the posts in that category use custom excerpts. This is a built in feature of wordpress.

Then on the category page template under appearance -> editor, place this piece of code:

    Code:
    [COLOR=#0099FF][FONT=Helvetica Neue]<?php echo category_description(); ?>[/FONT][/COLOR]
Some themes have this already built in so that code only applies if descriptions are not showing up.

Then give your category a description under posts -> category.

This is going to make your category pages 100% unique and SEO friendly.

    Ok thank you!
So i have to edit the category.php right?

I'm using a child theme and don't have the category.php in the child theme. What do i have to do? Just make a category.php in the child theme and place the code above right?

Um... are you sure it's enough? In my case, do i just have to change the description of my categories or the meta-description?

Btw i found a SEO description at the bottom of the category in the Yoast SEO settings. But now as i said i'm not sure if it's enough to just change the description or if i have to change the meta-description instead.

I'm looking at my indexed pages now and it looks like this :

What's the difference between these pages?

Still didn't change anything about that.
I was looking at the categories of some websites on google and a lot of them had the excerpt from the last post in that category. So i'm not sure if it's bad for SEO or if it's normal. Can you help me about that?

I changed the title of one of my post and it's indexed twice now. One with the previous title and another one with the current title. What can i do to avoid this?

I've been operating that way for years, Ichig0, and my stuff ranks. Categories are also part of what I try to rank when I build a site and often times I'll end up with page 1 results for both the page and a category page.

There may be better options but I know this works well.

Oh i guess i understood something.
I'm using %%category_description%% as meta-description template in SEO Yoast. It means i just have to edit the description of these categories and it will change that meta-description and use the description right? If it's the case, you are right. Sorry. :p

Edit: i'm using a lot of images from Flickr on my posts, should i use "nofollow" on these? I mean on the link when i give credit to the author.
