This is my first time buying an expired domain. I'm planning to use this as my money site.

The stats of the domain:
-PR: 0
-PA: 26
-DA: 13
-TF: 12
-CF: 14
Domain was created 2006.

Maybe numbers don't matter and I'm sure there are more factors that are needed to see if this domain is good like backlinks.

Do you guys think this is a good domain from the stats above? Is it bad that the PR is 0?

If this is a stupid question, sorry, I'm still a noob.

Two more factors I would consider:
1. Whether the links are from authority sites and not spammed.
2. Price: I would pay not more than $20 for this domain if you are getting it at auctions.

Since it's DA is not high I think these domains will be often overlooked by people. But if the links are from good sources and the price is good I would definitely buy it.

Dig deeper into the backlinks buddy..expired domains are all about quality backlinks.

Those are pretty useless metrics. You need to have a better understanding of how analyze a domain. Feel free to pm me the name and I'll take a look.

Dropped domains are good just as satellite. You can't reagister realy hot expired domains because of cybersquatters do it as domains registrator. You can find only low quality dropped domains.

It's risky to bring up this domain with this DA & PR.. Somehow, these metrics are not much useful one.. Do concentrate more on the backlinks and check their quality.. Backlinks and age is much worthy.. Between, what about the price for this domain..? Can tell is it worthy by seeing the price of this domain..

The domain cost $100. The back links doesn't look spammy. There are more no follow links. I figured the metrics I gave would give you a general idea of how good their back links are. thanks for the help guys!

you are buying PR 0 for $100 ? Moz have some serious effect on people brains.

It's just an honest NOOB question. I didn't buy it. There are some threads that argue PR doesn't matter but some argue that it does matter. *shrugs* Now I know PR 0 for $100 is never good. THX for your bro science tip.

First thing I look for is the backlinking to the site. No Spammy stuff, no overly egregious amount of links from forums and at least one link from an authority site.

I also like to see what the anchors are so as to make sure it is not heavily weighted in one direction.

Then I look at the wayback machine to see if the site was abused in the past and if those 3 situations are clean then I consider the site.

thanks for outlining the process you take in buying domains.

The domain seems like it has 1 link from an authority site related to the niche. I see 1 no follow link that isn't related to the niche at all.

The anchor text is very diverse. And the wayback machine shows that the site wasn't abused. It's spot on with the niche in trying to work with.

What at I like about the domain is, the age, name, niche is same as what I want. $100 is the only reason why I'm hesistent.

$100 is a rip off for those metrics. Just sayin man. That DA is just too low in my honest opinion.

I've bought a domain with similar metrics in the past, but it was a PR 2 domain. I really wanted to buy it so I paid the $82 I was charged after I won it. I knew it wasn't worth the price but I had no choice since some idle guys decided to pointlessly push the price up in a minor bidding war.

The domain you are considering is decent based on the information you provided, but $100 is way too much. I'd pay nothing more than $30 for it. Pagerank doesn't matter but I'm usually hesitant to purchase any domain with 20+ PA but no pagerank because the lack of pagerank could mean it's been penalised or it isn't actually strong.

If the domain was created after the last pagerank update, that would be an exceptional situation.

Thanks for the insight. I assume there is no solid way to tell if a domain has been penalized. I went to google and search "site:(website)" and it seems to be there. I assume this domain wasn't created after the last page rank update since it was created on 2006. So it's not an exception I assume. I agree with you about the domain having no page rank but the DA is 20+. And yes $100 is way too much, but I figured metrics might matter a little? That's why I'm asking for a second opinion.

It's hard to tell from just the stats but the domain most likely has a pr 0 because we haven't had a pr update since last year. If the domain isn't spammed and the domain name fits your business then go for it.

One more question related to this domain -

How important is moztrust score. I am using a free moztrust checker, and the domain has a score of 4.5. Should moztrust be considered when I look at expired domains?

thanks again

moz trust is very important in my opinion. Most people on this forum would agree that moz metrics are more important than google page rank, because google pr is so outdated. Also, consider looking at trust flow and citation flow metrics from majesticseo, Trust flow looks at the back-link profile of the website and ranks it based on how trustworthy those links are.

Most important metrics for expired domains: no specific order
1.Trust Flow (make sure it's higher or relatively close to Citation flow) You wouldn't want CF=30 TF=12
2.Moz Trust + 4.5
3.DA 15 minimum, I prefer +20
4. PA + 25

Thanks for the detailed reponse. is a free moztrust checker accurate?
