QR Code Marketing

I've been wondering how you go about tracking QR Code scans. Are you using a particular software? Also, I have a client that is a auto dealership and i've been trying to come up with a clever way of assisting them with sales and adding QR's to their arsenal. Any ideas?

here you go, I thought it was Toyota but it's Nissan:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) recently unveiled new window stickers that are going to be present on all vehicles starting in 2013. All future window stickers will feature a Quick Response (QR) code, which can be read by the smartphone of a prospective car buyer. Nissan elected to stay a step of ahead of the new window stickers, and is the first automaker to implement QR codes in its 2012 model year lineup.

On Nissan lots right now, the 2012 Altima and Sentra display the data-rich boxes that work with the camera on your phone. Once scanned, the QR codes can provide:

  • Specific vehicle information, including grade walk, key features and available accessories
  • Video based product overviews
  • Image gallery
  • Incentive offers
  • Dealer inventory
  • Request a quote capability
  • Join mailing list request
  • Dealer location support
Nissan will continue to add the codes to the rest of its 2012 lineup.

I currently use QR marketing for offline campaigns. I find that people are just very curious about what the QR code is and they will scan it and go to the website.

i just hate it when people dont setup their qr code marketing campaigns properly... saw one yesterday on some chewing gum packaging...

they where using a MS Tag Code - so that to me was an instant fail... then the mobile site... er wasnt mobile... then they wanted you to click a video... which didnt play in the browser but instead redirected you to another shitty non mobile page and gave you a link to download the MP4... FAIL FAIL FAIL

whoever approved the campaign - needs to be fired! lol

for the money i expect they got paid i could have done something much much MUCH better!!!!

just launched a daily deal site in chicago and would like to add qr coding and whatever other services someone can help me with... with pm me

Ukescuba, I am interested in the RE stuff too. I am beginning to offer a specific marketing solution for RE agents, but it's based on someone else's script and install so I'd much rather go with my own script.

I've been using QR Codes for a while now. I have the same QR Codes management script. I also offer free codes on my sites. Free formats are only jpg and png though :)

Pose interesting questions above your QR codes or something that draws the readers attention and peaks their curiosity. Has been effective for some work i've done for clients compared to just "posting a qr code"

If you wouldn't mind sharing OP, how do you change the content without changing the image? I understand that you host the qr on your own page just confused about where the actual info in the qr code is stored. Also, to track the codes, would you just give them all individual url's? Very new to the concept but I did some research and this has some potential.

You can't change the content without changing the image. The information (web address, phone number, address, email address) is stored in the QR Code itself.

Don't just put the QR Codes on your site. Use them in your offline marketing as well. Put them in places where your demographic you are reaching are. For example, for a client, We put them on Coasters and put the coasters at Local Bars.

Next, set up a seperate landing page for each of your QR Codes in your offline marketing and then you can track it's effectiveness in your analytics.

with our setup you dont change the qr code image at all - it has a dynamic forwarding redirect url

what that means is when you are create the qr code it takes you to say a campaign URL - its at that campaign url that pulls the destination url from the DB and simply forwards the mobile visitor to wherever its pointing, that way you can keep the same code and simply update the destination url whenever you feel like it

its good for realtors who say use them on signage or you need to make a correction to the destination url etc

so yes you dont change the qr code or the url it goes to - its the redirect url that changes but its seamless and works really well, plus like what we have in place we locate where the scan was done detecting the phones GPS

our system is in real time and manages all the stats too - ill put it on BST later this week if people are interested its almost like a white label system too :)

hope that makes sense

cheers

In my country, only 6% of ppl know what is a QR code...unfortunately. Would love to mess around with those, but definitely no ROI doing that :D

anyone knows if there is any way for us to track the number of people who scans our QR codes?

I think leading them to a special website is your best bet.
A website exclusively for people who scan the QR code.

One of the greatest advantages of QR codes when attempting to acquire information is the curiosity factor, the majority of people have seen them before and are curious, be the great person you are and educate them (and hook them right there).

Are there any free resources online where you can create qr codes for free?

QR codes really haven't caught on where I live but I think it will be very common in a couple years. Probably better with a younger demo.

Recently I have really seen restaurants utilizing QR codes both to gain followers/likes and also to encourage reviews. If you stick it on a table, surely curiosity will get the best of them and they will try to interact with it.

We have added into our enterprise CMS tool the QR dynamic generator and tracking, we are seeing good results; the marketing companies we empower are coming up with some fantastic ideas on how to use it. I highly recommend this compared to TXT codes and similar products.

is there a cheaper alternative of qr codes tracking script or someone could upload the ventipix script here.
