Qi Gong has been around for centuries, and Tai Chi started from this martial art, although most people who practice it use it for good health. It can basically heal any illness or injury. It is good for energy :)

British version of 'Chi'

To tell you the truth, I read the Wikipedia entry and I'm not sure if all these are real:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qigong#Controversy

There is little controversy concerning the benefit of qigong when the definition of qigong is limited to a series of physical movements and a set of relaxation exercises. Conflict has arisen when the claims made by proponents of qigong border on the supernatural.[SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][75][/SUP]
Some researchers have labeled the subject matter of qigong as a pseudoscience.[SUP][76][/SUP] In addition, some claim that the origin and nature of qigong practice has led to misconceptions and misuses,[SUP][77][/SUP] including psychiatric problems[SUP][16][/SUP] and the formation of cults[SUP][7][/SUP]
Skepticism towards qigong is also applied to the field of Traditional Chinese medicine, and extended to the broader subject of alternative medicine. The basic problem is that the information available from those fields does not fit scientific acceptability or medical interpretation. [SUP][76][/SUP][SUP][77][/SUP][SUP][78][/SUP][SUP][79][/SUP] [SUP][80][/SUP] [SUP][81][/SUP] Skeptics contend that most of the benefits derived from Alternative medicine are, at best, derived from a placebo effect.[SUP][82][/SUP] [SUP][83][/SUP]
The main arguments from the view of skeptics against the correlation between qigong practices and health-related results are:

  • The existence of qi, or any form of vitalism, has not been independently verified in a experimental setting. Such a concept is not recognized in the biological sciences.[SUP][84][/SUP]
  • Demonstrations in martial arts such as breaking hard objects with strikes can be fully explained using physics, without reference to the concept of qi.[SUP][85][/SUP][SUP][86][/SUP]
  • Reported claims of supernatural abilities appear to be tricks more suited to magic shows than to any genuine scientific discipline.[SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][87][/SUP][SUP][88][/SUP][SUP][89][/SUP][SUP][90][/SUP][SUP][91][/SUP]
  • Personal benefits for some qigong masters might have provided them with an incentive to exaggerate their claims [SUP][7][/SUP]

These are just stunts when it comes to "physical mastering pain and stuff", national geographic and all US based science programs (like in OP video) which are low-budget are extremely far away from truth.
They say it's lethal to gain ~450pounds force to your stomach.... why have i seen people getting way worse hits and they are totally fine? These documentaries doesnt think about real life when they come up with explanations....

For example human body is fluid based, what happens when you hit water? does it shatter? does it transfer that energy forward? By first video, they say your organs will erupt from the hit, well not... energy will get forwarder through body to opposite side if person is in relaxed state.

Sorry i'm raging here as all this stuff seems very logic to me, peace out i'm off to bed.

PS. i like taichi, i know how to do 12-part set and it's great exercise, it doesnt bulk you up but it's doing the same as yoga, making your fluids go faster and your will output alot of excess water from your body.

Why dont they do a real test and shoot him with this?

Qi Gong is somewhat mystical and its benefits can only be
verified by those who have actually practiced it.

I used to do Tai Chi as a form of exercise and it is great for mind, body spirit.
Tai Chi was basically the precursor to what we know today as the martial arts.

No offence, but regular exercise might do the same thing.

Not all martial arts comes from the east, there are alot of western martial such as boxing and wrestling that do not descend from tai chi.
