Q. Why should I go to the BHW / IRL conference?

That's sounds sweet, I'm down. If it's not until Nov then there's plenty of time to plan. Be great to meet some BHW peeps in real life. Is there a thread for people to confirm that they're going?

I am having trouble understanding this Mother Russia mentality that creeps up in this thread.

Profits are a good thing. Let me say that again, profits are a good thing.

Exactly why wouldn't you want the forum 's owner to profit? Who gets to invest more in his business, an owner that makes profits or an owner that barely breaks even? Really people, common sense.

complaining about a conference you don't plan to attend is as much use as complaining about lounge threads.

I sadly can't attend this year as my schedule is busy as hell and the two weeks I have spare I need some down time in the sun.
I hope this becomes a yearly thing as things like this are a great way to expand your business with like minded individuals.

I don't really understand it either. People should be supporting this even if they can't make it.
It will only serve to make the community stronger.

I am sure it will be a success.

There are many reasons why people might not be able to make it and I respect that.
I myself won't know for sure if I can make it until July but even if I can't make it I will be supporting it.

I will be gutted if I can't get to Vegas.
The range of speakers is great but the number one reason I would like to be there is to meet all the like minded individuals that I respect and admire on the forum.
These are the opportunities where you will make life long friends and business partners.

I expect all the serious IM'ers on BHW WILL be there and this is an opportunity for major brainstorming and deal making.

Common sense is you're filibustering, nowhere did I say or even imply "profits are bad." The man said "It's all for the benefit of BHW the profits are going to be fed back into the BHW community." All I want is clarification of that statement. Specifically, I'm curious how the profits from this conference will be fed back into the BHW community.

Fair question running a forum with tens of millions of visitors per year is expensive and could always be improved and developed further for the benefit of all.

Areas such as, but not limited to:
Security - always a top priority and never cheap when done properly.
Networking to bring more great members and benefits into the forum, attending conferences that are almost as good as ours.
Servers ..... you can never have enough.
Added benefits for all member levels.
etc etc

Basically whatever is needed without going into specifics (for obvious reasons). But this is going off topic, back to questions about reasons to attend the conference.

Chris22 This is a bit different to the meet ups that Meathead1234 puts together in London, as great as Meatheads events sound (I've not been to one yet - will definitely be at the next one I can attend) this is the next step on. Meathead will be in Vegas. Come and discuss your thoughts between the 2 with him.

The Goa event - I've heard about this but it's not a BHW event. Don't get duped into thinking it is.

"These IRL.info" guys as you put it are the JV I've put together from BHW members and contacts. You can learn more about IRL here. And the benefits to the BHW community.

Thank you maecenas23, appreciate it! Honestly, if we could lay a conf on in every continent for a few dollars we would but we can't and laying on a conf takes ages and you wouldn't believe the dedication and investment needed. It is really easy to be negative about anything but we are confident the positive will win the day. Our dream is to see a thousand forum members learning, networking and partying under one roof in the party capital of the world. A simple dream with big ambition, fingers crossed it will work, tick all the boxes and be awesome! Sorry you'll not be there, maybe next year?

IRL wants to explain how great an event will be. It can cost 300, 900 or 5000 it doesn't even matter too much. It's his and their choice so I can't understand why some think that saying: "I will not pay 1k to hear people speaking" would add any value to the discussion.

I will not go either because it's far and to get American VISA is a pain in the ass, but the value of networking with smart people can add amazing benefits to your business. If you see IM as a business. If you are looking to shoot some quick $500/month with PPD by spamming an Youtube video, the conference has no value for you. ( Let's be clear: I don't have anything against people doing PPD).

Hi Chris22, thanks for your comments and they have worth. DD and we (IRL) have explained our relationship and our position, truly sorry if something was lost in translation. I have met meathead and know that the London events range from 40 guys to 2. This is slightly different as we are not emulating a pub in Holborn but BHW attendees in Vegas. As IRL are in London that of course would have been a much easier event to organize but it's not about us its about you and seeing as 80% of you guys are in the US and 80% of those in CA we did the intelligent thing and decided to try and please the majority and hold it in the entertainment capital of the world. I love the idea of Goa and would happily assist you in the organization of this? Also should you want to meet face to face as London is on my doorstep, lets get a few of us together and have a beer whilst discussing the virtues of getting this community together in real life - sorry couldn't resist!
