To those of you guys that purchased Magazine links from Forbes and the likes: did you really got the value you expected in terms of rankings?
I mean paying 2 or 3k for a link is much and as it is well known meanwhile that these links are purchasable today, I wonder if they have really an effect that justify the spending.

So if you did purchase such links in the past, are you still happy with it?

Thank you for your valuable insights.

The value of that link in terms of SEO is diminished by the value in terms of being able to show that you were featured in Forbes etc.

It adds authority to your site and could be part of a long term plan but not for your average website. Your average site is much better off spending that kind of money on quality SEO as opposed to one link that won't give you the rankings in Google but rather has most of it's value in the prestige aspect.

Great investment for those serious about building a long-term brand. Depends on the niche.

Hello mate,

Firstly, these authority sites will need to consider your existence in their blogs.

Of course, a link back from Forbes can boost link juices but more importantly, it is one of the better traffic sources for referral traffics.

If it's an editorial feature you can get good traffic for sure.

OK, so you are out for authority and traffic.
Authority boost: did anyone encounter a big ranking boost across the boards?
Traffic: did anyone get really niche chunks out of it? Because most articles on these properties seem to be hidden inside the site, without any inner link juice.
Sure, some might use it for as seen on stuff, but common, unless you do an ICO... And even there it is pretty obvious.

I'm also interested in this, I'm building a new site for my personal brand of products. I plan on buying several links like forbes, huffingtonpost over time. Like someone mention, part of me wants to do it because I can display featured in forbes.

Good for those who are willing to invest a huge amount for long-term effects. I'd say the amount of traffic it can bring you is worth the price. :)

Great for brand recognition. But from a link power perspective, it's not worth $2k
