Welcome to PureHustle’s Authority Site Journey!

Over the past few years, I’ve predominantly focused on short-term business models, which often yielded nice payouts for a short period of time but I found myself eventually getting bit in the butt. This journey is a completely different style for me, and I’d like to make some long-term online properties that will stand at a minimum of a few years.

The idea of an authority site is still confusing to me, and thus it hasn’t “clicked” yet. I suspect it will once I get my hands dirty.

Throughout this journey, I’ll keep about 90% transparency with everything I do to the site. I created this journey in order to (1) stay on track, and (2) receive feedback, help from you guys.

Right now, the focus is to get content up on the site. I write my own content and plan on adding at a bare-minimum of 2 articles to the site per day.

I plan to monetize the website with adsense, but I've got some alternative monetization plans to test out once the site gets 100+ visits per day.

I plan on hitting the site with strong Offsite SEO in the future, but first i need content on the site. I want a minimum of around 50-100 articles on the site.

    Things Completed So Far :
    • I chose a niche, which is broad in nature and leaves the potential for thousands of keywords to rank for.
    • I did some initial keyword research, but quickly realized I have a lot more to learn about choosing keywords manually. I initially used LongTail Pro, and chose keywords that were under 30 KC. I’m now discovering that the KC metric isn’t 100% reliable.
    • I’ve just picked up a SEMRush account, and I’ll do some digging around there for better keywords
    • The site is up and running, I chose a super nice theme, and the site itself has about 35 posts. each post has north of 800 words.
    • I’ve inner linked all posts, and the onsite optimization seems to be relatively good. I’m not too focused on the keyword density in the pages themselves, my focus is on the proper flow of the content.
I'll be sticking to a Silo structure, and I'll closely follow BTB's methodology.

    Day #1
    • found quite a few more keywords to target using SEMRush
    • Added 2 more articles to the site
    • Created a handful of niche-specific blog comments pointing to the authority site

Eventually, I'll start hammering out Web 2.0's a few press releases, PBN links, etc. etc. etc. I still want to get as much high-quality content up on the site as possible first .there will be plenty of time for off-site SEO.

Once the site earns enough, I'll bring on a content writer.

I know a guy that owns some automated SEO services that would give you some free SEO when you are ready to start linking in.

You know where to find him if you need it.

    Good luck OP,
I have found the same recently with LTP and their KC is rather wild at times with results.

That guy you speak of sure is altruistic!
I want to put in the work first and learn the ropes before I reach out and ask for help. I want to have a ton of these guys built for the sake of long-term stability.

Thanks Buddy! & yeah, I dont like that very much lol. Oh well, another lesson learned!

Very interesting, been trying the same thing for the past 3 months, kinda stuck on first page for a few keywords but still hardly get over 30 UV a day. If I could earn 30/day I'd be fine with it and I could start scaling it further. Been following some personal advice from BTB and waiting now to see if I can see any results.

Also how did you optimize your page so damn much in terms of pagespeed insights? I just have no idea how I could fix most stuff that the pagespeed thing shows.

Perhaps you know of any good themes for pagespeed insights? Currently have 2 websites one shows 74/100 and the other 54/100. Even though I own several plugins for image optimizing, css/js minifying etc

Nice! Glad to see im not the only one putting in the work for a long-term project.

For optimization, I initailly started with a fast and clean theme. I used a handful of plugins to get that score. I also had a GTMetrix score of 90 something. Unfortunately, if you optimize the hell out of the site, you'll experience technical issues and functionality issues. I've lowered the optimization so that the site can load properly. I'll fine-tune down the road.

If i were you I'd check out w3 total cache, and grab a theme that is built for speed. consider a theme built on the genesis framework. from there start searching for plugins online that fix the individual issues that google says are on your site.

    Good luck buddy.

Any theme that uses Genesis Framework. Or do your research on popular themes to see how fast they are.

Subscribed... Great timing buddy! I am going to make my very first authority website next month, though I am only planning up to 500 words per article, is it enough?

500 words is a bare minimum , you want reviews to be longer.
Main / pillar articles you want to be 1000+ as a very bare min too.

I read a week back a respected blogger describing how he did manual keyword research using allintitle and that sort of stuff.
The keyword he was using he claimed would be a doddle to rank, not bad search numbers for it as a longtail etc.
I popped the KW into LTP and Keyword revealler and they showed it to be 45 and 48 based on their own KC results, so the opposite of his basis for proceeding.

    Day #2
    • Added 2 more articles to the website today.
    • Did a few more niche-specific comments on competitor sites.
2 articles per day is a tiny amount, but the goal for me is to get into a routine. Eventually, all these small steps will pay-off.

Typically, at a bare minimum i like to sit around 800 words. Obviously you dont want to be rambling on, but try to write in such a fashion that you cover the topic completely and you hit 800+ words.

    Hello PureHustle,

    Day #3
    • Added 2 more articles to the site (roughly 2,600 words)
Currently the site has 41 articles on the site (most of them around 1,000-1,200 words each).

At around 50 pages, I'll start to implement some off-site SEO. The plan is as follows:

    • Press Release Syndication for pillar pages
    • Parasite Pages/ High Authority, Manually created Web 2.0's/Video Creation and a highly filtered GSA blast as a tier 1 (focusing on low OBL & contextual links). Then, I'll hit the tier 1 with pretty much anything i can find with GSA as long as its loosely niche specific.
      • I need to scrape a nice contextual list for tier 2
      • I'll create about 10 manual Tier1 Links
    • Automated links to the inner pages, slowly pushing 10-100 links per day. these will be highly filtered as well.
of course, for the sake of "Random Chaos", I'll continue to build random links to the site including niche-specific blog comments, social bookmarks, social media shares, and more.

    Current Stats Of The Site:
I havent even touched Off-site SEO so far. The domain itself I picked up had some nice high authority, trust-worthy links and thats why I have the stats you see above. Then, once I do some off-site SEO, I suspect the TF and CF will grow closer together.

The idea makes sense in my head, I've just gotta stop doing analysis paralysis and continue to work without overthinking.
