Proxy Tool Addon for Firefox and Chrome

The TOR network is definitely slower than my regular network most of the time. I only use it when I'm testing something or doing something that's tied to IP (like registering accounts). However, a decent (typically paid) proxy will not have that same problem.

Having said that, the TOR network is pretty decent most of the time...especially if you tweak it a bit. However, that would be something for a different thread.

F5 and shift+F5 (hard reset) will do the job nicely.

I agree. That option needs to be added to the settings screen (see above). I will add that option on the next revision, along with the direct link option.

That option is already there (see settings screen above). Just un-check "Use default referer after page is loaded".

You can use Shift + R to rotate referrers anytime.

You can use Shift + S to rotate proxies anytime. We had a debate about this feature - use timed or direct key shortcut change. We feel that it's best to have the direct control by using Shift + S keyshort instead of timed proxy rotation. Many customers are using private (from wonderful private proxy providers here) or proxylist.co proxies to manage the proxies easily. Shift + S is the most popular feature that allow them to switch proxies on the fly, especially when holding up to 100 proxies.

Proxy Tool for Chrome version development project is a very difficult progress due to the security restrictions ( have to write custom DLL to support the services, plus additional files for Mac OSX and Linux). Because of that...we expect to release Proxy Tool for Chrome version with "stripped down" features (no referrals and user agents). Later this year, we may want to develop our own proxy tool browser that will have many loaded features, including the spoofed screen resolutions, and other sinister features as mentioned earlier here. The goal is to make browsing to be 100% anonymous.

Not really. It depends on where you live.

Examples:
1) If you live in UK, use UK proxies, and use UK DNS servers, the surfing speed will be very fast.
2) If you live in India, use Columbia proxies, and use bad ISP DNS servers, the surfing speed will be very slow. However, if you change the DNS server to use Columbia DNS server, the surfing speed will be better. See http://proxylist.co/forum/general-support-2/fast-public-dns-servers-list-18/ for details on how to configure for DNS servers to speed up your proxies (public or private).
3) It depends on your Firefox browser. If it is loaded with junk stuffs in it, it's time to strip it out and/or reset it to default mode. See http://browserland.com/how-to/restore-firefox-default-settings-without-uninstalling-it/ for details.

After many months of waiting as well as the revisions after submitting the proxy tool for Firefox to Mozilla, they finally just approved it today.

This thing works on flock too? I tried with firefox and it seems to work fine

The newer Flock browser platform is based on Chrome, not Firefox. It seems that they did not update their web site to show that it's using Chrome platform. The older Flock browser versions should work fine with proxy tool FF addon.

Fortunately, Proxy tool extension for Chrome will be ready very soon (tonight or tomorrow or this weekend, depending on QA testing we are running).

Hi,

We have Chrome version right now. We are planning to release it this week as it works pretty good.

The only issue is that once you shut down Chrome, the "proxy" services will be stuck as 'active'. It means you need to disable proxy services before shutting down Chrome. That is the reason why the development cycle is taking so long to complete.

Firefox 3+ and Firefox 4+ have the View Toolbar option to enable/disable the bottom toolbar.

For anyone who is experiencing the problem with the missing bottom toolbar when upgrading to Firefox 4.0 browser, please follow the simple steps here:

To enable the bottom toolbar, follow these steps:

- Click on View (menu)
- Select Toolbars, then select Add-on Toolbar to enable it

Or use CTRL + \ shortcut keys to display the bottom toolbar.

Proxy tool for Chrome is finally submitted to Google Chrome WebStore.




It will take a while for Google Chrome support to review it and then approve it for public release.

Firefox Feeling Sluggish? Disable Your Add-Ons

Firefox 4 included an update to its JavaScript engine, which made for some serious performance gains. Now Mozilla is going after another cause of sluggishness: slow start-up times caused by add-ons. If your install of Firefox feels slow to start up, you may want to try disabling some add-ons. According to Mozilla, on average, each add-on a user has installed adds 10 percent to Firefox's start-up time. But that's only for the average extension; some add-ons have a much worse start-up time impact than others.



It means that if you have other addons in your Firefox browser while using Proxy Tool Firefox addon, you may want to disable them to maximize the web browsing performance.

I will need to write the instructions on how to use Proxy Tool for Chrome. Certain features are similar to Proxy Tool for Firefox, except:

- No fake http referrers.
- No User Agents.

Thought everyone wants to kow that the Firefox 5.0 beta browser is out. Proxy Tool Addon for Firefox will work fine for this beta 5.0 FF browser.

In several weeks, we will upgrade our popular Proxy Tool FF Addon that have the direct link feature plus few more bells and whistles, including improved cookie deletion.

The user agent (random/default) is one of many reasons why Proxy Tool Addon for Firefox is very popular.

It's easier to let Proxylist.co to handle the 43M+ user agent types. And, yes, we are planning to add more user agents on the next upcoming version.

As for the "custom" user agent list - I'll think about it.
