Hi there, I've created a link wheel building up a few articles that then link to me money site. at present 1 of my articles is 5th on page 1 of the keyword i'm after the other is on page 3. unfortunately my site page i'm linking to was on page 11 and then vanished!

i'm not seeing any backlinks for the page on webmaster tools....
at first i thought it would just be bouncing about for a bit but its been 2 weeks now and i'm begining to wish i had just linked directly to the money site so i would be on page 1!

    any clues?

Linkwheels are not a good thing to build these days as thye leave a footprint that Google sees. Good chance G saw your linkwheel and slapped your site.

to be honest it wasn't much of a wheel.... everything links to one article, a few to my main site using a more generic keyword, as well as the article

i didn't close off "the wheel" and have a loop.

just a tree style structure pointing to my article.

That shouldn't be an issue then... is your site real new?

the site itself isn't new its about a year and a half old and it has a pr4 front page with a couple of pr5's pr4's pr3's inside

its a wordpress install and i'm trying to build up a particular tag.

The tag page is optimised for the keyword without "keyword stuffing" it.

the tag itself is quite new though

That's rather strange then... I believe your issue is above my pay grade. Perhaps someone else can offer you something constructive.

Am curious how G can spot linkwheeling. Can someone shed some light on this? I was thinking of doing the same thing myself!

The linkwheel process is where you build a bunch of sites that link to your money site and then link those sites to one another which in essence becomes a wheel looking structure.

If you want to win in the Google game, you need to have random chaos... vary everything you do so nothing looks like a "system" or a "contrived process" as that is visible to G.

    Contrived process = fail.

    Random Chaos = Win.

In order to make sure that G de-indexed your page is by this command:
    Code:
    site:http:yourdomain.com/yourpage.html
Most important thing is not to panic and stay

I recommend that you'll keep building links to that page and as well to those that already rank high and point to that page... eventually they will pull that page up and if it is really de-indexed... they will help it being re-indexed.
