What’s BHW policy on accounts logging in or getting created from multiple IP addresses? I ask because with Apple’s upcoming OS and iOS releases with an iCloud+ subscription are all going to have their IP address anonymizes. There’s no way mods will be able to ban accounts by IP or assume accounts created from the same IP from a banned user are truly the same person. This is going to completely change how websites and applications operate.

We don't ban based on IP anyway.

This might be why now and then appears someone that starts creating accounts like mad and spaming something weird. Obviously a manual action. Had this also in one of my forums and decided to ban based on IP, until this kind of guys discovered Tor.

IP banning has become obsolete, specially after IPV4 has been depleted ages ago and even Opera uses a proxy.

Well that’s good to know. You know people will abuse this which could result in people being negatively impacted. Or the opposite could happen and things loosen up. Imagine creating and managing multiple social media accounts using this?

This is why multilogin-like browsers exists.
Social Media has become way more intelligent that just a simple IP. They are currently tracking at least a dozen parameters from your browsing.
Match a couple of them and they will know that you are abusing them.

But Xenforo doesn't have this kind of advanced tracking. I'm 100% confident that if a guy has created like 10 profiles to spam with the same IP, Mods will end banning by IP, since it's the most easy way to stop this.

Xenforo as a stand-alone probably does not but the multiple custom-created plugins that our IT team has created gives us a lot more functionality than an off the shelf Xenforo platform.

We have multiple ways and custom tools we use to ensure the forum rules are complied with, IP data hasn’t carried significant weight in years. The details of which we’re obviously not going to divulge, but rest assured we’re a long way from a default Xenforo install. As long as you don’t break the forum rules then you’ll be fine.
