So I have a new client who we agreed for $500/mo SEO who wants to rank for city paralegal etc. However the traffic in my city on each combined with couple other keywords is only about 100 searches per month. So I find it probably unlikely she will find a ROI. However, pretty sure I could rank this keyword with a couple hours of work a month. Considering dropping her service fee to $250 a month, which seems more reasonable. What is your guys advice? How do you price your clients? Are there any local clients which you feel comfortable charging 1k+? If so, what industries, etc?

Why would you drop service fee charge just because the EMS is lower?

As long as you provide the results, you can charge whatever you want as like as your client agrees with the price.

What I am saying is $500 month for paralegal servies with 100 EMS probably won't bring an ROI. Most paralegals charge like 30 bucks an hour. She'd have to get like 18 hours of work a month just to pay for SEO. I really want clients that stay for the long haul, and that means providing ROI.

I guess, it's up to you. I mean like, she should know how much she would have to profit in order to make up the $500 she invested in you. If she feels ranking high on a 100 EMS keyword is worth the $500 investment in you, then why not?

Well my client doesn't know search figures at this point. Well she's not my client until tomorrow either.

Well, then it is your job to make sure her sales copy is up to par to make that ROI worth the seo services. Do your job and all should be fine. You might also need to learn sales copy for her specific niche (market research motivation and psychology).

Then clearly explain to her the benefits of your service and the basics of risk vs return. Make sure she knows that she would have to make a certain amount in order to make up the amount she paid you. It's important to know that you're only being paid for ranking her keyword, not giving guaranteeing her any profit. It should be made clear that you only provide results, how much she earns back is completely up to many variables.

If you're being conscious about charging her too much, ask her what her budget is before it starts. If she's offering around $250/month, then you're fine because that's your reserve price isn't it?:) If she's offering more, than that's just as good for you. Besides, you can always negotiate and charge a little more.

Just be clear on the benefits of hiring you and that it's not a guarantee she would have increases in business. Clarify that how far her business goes is up to her and you only provide her advice to go in the right direction as a consultant.

If someone is willing to pay it I would take it. Just explain everything clearly so she knows what to expect from her $500/mo

This is something that should never happen.

You set a price for your service, it is up to each business to consider whether they need your service / can afford it / will benefit from it. I do think going a bit personal with your business can bring a lot of benefits, however, I would not recommend it as some can abuse of this.

Great advice, thank you.

This is great advice your definitely on par with this. Besides, if she doesn't see ROI and wants to cancel, THEN i can drop the price! :) Besides, she already agreed to $500/mo.

Dear You can hire me for any Local Seo service on the very reasonable price.

I understand where you are coming from. In these kind of situations, if I know I made a little more than the keyword is worth (like your situation), I might actually get direct leads to their website by other means to keep the business recurring monthly. That way, they see the rankings, as well as returns.

I agree with TheNetworkBlast, do not reduce the price, make au other website yourself and seo is alongside and give her the leads, she would be a happily client and should give you a good referral too..!!
