Thinking of adding press releases, preferably through free sites, to my armoury for SEO.

Any tips for decent ranking sites?

outsourcing to a good publicity co. does have its benefits if u have a stream of press releases. it definitely gets u noticed sooner .

Press releases should be part of your link building arsenal, great valuable links, easy to get. If your thinking of using press releases for more authoratative sites then consider paid submissions to Prweb and damn cant remember the other one, maybe Web Wire.

press release is a very good method to build up your links. What is more, such website has a very high PR, and this will do good for your website.

But remember do not spam in your press release, and follow the writing skills in such articles.

yes press releases are good for seo, used them on couple of my websites with decent results

if you want to spend a little cash (like $80), and take some time out to write a really good press release - your site will get so many links in a matter of a week! its insane. prweb.com - use the paid service, write a good press release, and lots of big sites will began picking it up then it goes viral...

This reminds me...I have a coupon for PR Web somewhere...hope it hasnt expired!

Yeah good for backlinks on the free sites but exceptionally good once you start paying for the service. One of the main benefits is that a few of the paid ones end up getting into Google News which can really drive traffic and naturally build backlinks.

Once you start to go a little viral like this it can be a great time to quickly build up a whole load of links manually (on top of the ones you're picking up virally). Google takes into account a site gathering links quickly once it's in the news and going viral etc etc so take the opportunity to gather a few extra links without getting penalised.
