On my private blog, I'm asked to post a lot of press releases from various people and companies. I try to change things as best I can but a lot of the time my posts are duplicates after I run a plagiarism check.

Will posting pre-written press releases hurt my rankings over the course of time? I do post a lot of unique content, I'm not sure if that helps?

Yes posting unique content will help. I am not sure how press releases really work. I would assume that they need to be unique as well but can not be100% positive.

The notion of press releases is duplicating content across different mediums so I am not really sure how that works. I do not think press releases hurt your rankings.

It's good for SEO and should always be done, but doesn't mean you'll be #1 in SERPS.

As it has always been said... unique content is always best. But I am not sure about press releases since you can post the same press release on various press release sites.

Best if you try to post unique content but if you re-post a press release submitted on other news site you can post duplicate without any problem because when you post a press release to a distribution service it will be crawled by many sites and google will see it as a duplicate but it will not hurt your rankings , it will help
