My CMO has approached me and asked me to create a content plan to double organic traffic in 12 months.

I have no idea where to start.

When I create content now, it's usually involving a new product (we're an e-commerce store), or it's when I identify a keyword opportunity that's a good balance of difficulty and search volume. That being said, when Ahrefs says that a search volume has 400, that doesn't equate to 400 hits a month when (if) we rank in 1st position. So I'm really unclear as to how I can devise a strategy for doubling this traffic, even if I'm working backwards.

I've been using the Golden Keyword ratio over the last few months, but that's gets quick return on very low volume keywords.

How on earth can I use that approach to devise a strategy that'll double the current traffic in that time frame?

FWIW, I'm managing 6 writers in 6 different European languages, and it's the total traffic to all of these domains that have to be doubled between now and August 2023. In the month of June 2022, we had a total of 91k new users to the site, spread out over 7 ccTLDs.

TL;DR. I need to turn 91k clicks into 180k in 12 months, and the only strategies I can think of (and that I know I can successfully execute) are based on low-volume keywords, and I have no idea how to reverse-engineer a strategy to that 180k target.

Pretend to work on it for the next 12 months. Now, you have 12 months at your disposal to be self-employed.

Are the products sold social media friendly?

A couple of influencers and BOOM, you have traffic that you never had before.
