Practical uses for scripting/programming in IM

Hello everyone. I am a bit curious about the practical use of programming/scripting skills in IM.

I heard lots of people saying programming is not required for IM but is it useless? Is there anyone here with knowledge of PHP/JS/Whatever and used those skills in IM with good results?

Well not required. But you'll end up paying someone like me a shit ton of money to build awesome sites for you when you could do it on your own.
 
It's far from useless, programming is very important in internet marketing, without it people would be spending days doing tasks they could easily be automating. By learning programming languages like C#, JS, and PHP, you will be able to automate tasks on demand without having to hire a programmer to do it for you. You'll also be able to update it yourself, so no worries about a seller bailing on a project.
 
No, not useless in the least. If you get a good system/strategy down, you can automate it and scale it up very easily. Programming can make a lot of tedious repetitive tasks very easy.. making you more productive in the long run.
 
If I wasn't able to code awesome bots (most of which requiring AI or complex algos totally out of league for your average freelance "programmer"..) I'd actually have -at best- 1/100 of the potential capability to make a profit out of my methods... And grunt work ain't fun, everybody knows that... :D
 
Maybe I didn't explain myself clearly. I can probably program and design any website I want but what's the point when Wordpress and plugins exist? Have you made a website for yourself and made a ton of money with it thanks to those skills? I see no use for programming in IM except selling websites/CMS. Facebook is a good example but unless you have a unique idea and you get very lucky and go viral programming won't take you very far in my opinion.

Well way to be simple minded.

Because all the great, successful, unique websites are on WordPress.

Perhaps you have no good ideas because you think like this. Stop whining about how you can't come up with any ideas. The rest of us will continue on with our success.

I make probably 3-4 extremely complex sites for myself per year and countless more for my clients. Because my clients and I have good ideas. No one is going to tell you what thoughts to think and what sites to make.

I'm new here so I don't know alot. I guess some methods can be automated but does the method itself rely in programming? I never found one and I have been searching these forums alot. I hope all of you understand what I am saying.

I am not asking for ideas, just wanted to know if somebody is making money relying on programming. From what I read here no such website exists, I found no proof. And a complex website is useless and a waste of time if it can be replicated with wordpress.
 
it is actually a big part. If you do not know any programming you cannot collect proper data on a landing page, and without collecting data your going to waste money.

The vast majority of methods NEED desperately advanced scripting / botting capabilities to be major bread winners, not just skiddy $10-40 / day swingers... I would say you won't realistically be able to get to a mid-5 to 6 figures / year ballpark without automation -in general- as simple as that. Regarding WP, I think it's a great piece of software for your average webmaster whose core business is making websites for clients. For a marketer it might be: a. overkill (and won't get too much into this) b. significantly buggy offering an enormous attack surface due to its popularity (think how many ppl find their own aff links switched with obscure enc64 strings) c. if you develop a solid db-less cms template with good stats in your backend, maybe a cute ad rotator -AS A MARKETER- chances are you probably won't ever need anything else, a tweak here a tweak there, but hey that's just me... ;)
 
Just look around, people are always selling new software for IM. And guess what, we all buy them because it either saves us time or we don't know how to program such tools.

Personally I have spent a lot of money on IM software and without the software I would not be able to earn as much as I do now.

So yeah, practical use No.1 is creating automated software.
Also, it helps a lot for creating specific websites that you would not be able to create otherwise. If you have bought a custom made site, you should know what I an taking about.

Without coding, you should call yourself an Internet drag 'n' dropper... :) Coding is very practical, and I would find myself clueless without understanding the code. IMing for me is coding, writing, and testing new stuff out.
 
I agree that most methods need bots but I'm talking about the revenue model. I haven't found one where programming is needed in this forum (not asking to be spoon fed, just stating facts). Also, I hate to use wordpress and any other CMS but if all I'll be doing is marketing then what's the point of building your own when you can save time using one that's freely available.

Dude uv already been told that having a good programming backgroung is a gr8 plus compared to someone without one....why r u still pushing it?Theres lots of advantages..for instance i was just watching a vid of dc949....a group of dudes who came up with this epic recaptcha solver called stiltwalker which practically owned all kinds of recaptcha.They mentioned in one of there vids that they could have easily replaced decaptcha and made like $200,000 in a year but they cba...i think they just do it for the lulz.Anyway...this is just an example of how you can earn big $$ with some programming knowledge..not to mention its all on autopilot since bots are doign all the work!Nevertheless if u cant seem to grasp this then am sorry but IM is not for you!

Without dwelving into the methods themselves, what kind of AI and "complex algos" do you work with?
 
I seriously want to know who said this? Knowledge of programming gives you an edge. You can make your own site / script / system and so on. Your investment becomes almost 0 for the development. Think about it..
