Practical uses for scripting/programming in IM

OP you need more hope. I can't code for shit but am still planning to get into it. The most obvious and easiest route into coding for IM money is selling Wordpress plugins.

What's stopping you from doing that?

I'm conviced. ReALeST presented an example of a revenue model that relies on programming. Still, it's a rare sight here and again it falls on the category of bot building. Does anyone have an example of an affiliate using programming skills to sell a product like an ebook?
