PR1 how? I've done quite a bit of work

According to some online tool's my forum has a page rank of 1. I'd like to know why? I mean I have some good index's in Google. I rank for keywords Social Engineering Forums. I show up second but the forum whom shows up first has a PR of 0. What the hell?

Maybe I'm missing the ball here but I just don't understand why and how a page rank of 0 is beating me for keywords. They do have more back links then me, 80, while I have about 50.

Main question how can I rank 1 for the term " Social Engineering Forums" I currently rank 2.

PR has nothing to do with your SE rankings

PR is gained by getting backlinks from other sites that have PR, and each single page is having its own PR

The number of backlinks your competitors have can't be compared to yours, because they might have only 1 backlink from really strong and reputable site and will outbeat you no matter what you do.

To try to rank to #1 for any keyword you like, you must start building backlinks to your site

How much money are you making for ranking number 2 for social engineering forums? My guess is it is $0. If you rank #1, my guess is you will also earn $0. So why bother even trying to rank for it?

Let's break this down a bit. Your main keyword produces about 1000 global searches per month, which equals 33.33333 visitors per day. The average CPC for that keyword is $0.10.

You have a few things working against you. First, forums are very hard to monetize. Second, nobody is searching for the keyword you are ranking for which may help explain why you are. Third, nobody else wants to pay to compete for these keywords.

If you are running the forum as a hobby, that's great. But if you expect to make a good amount of money from it, I'd strongly recommend that you find another niche and refrain from running a forum.

If you want PR, you need links from high PR pages. d0follow pages. You can easily do it by grabbing some high PR blog comments. Many BSTs on here doing just that. But increasing PR is not going to have any bearing on much of anything that you're doing unless you want to sell the site, and then PR does fetch a higher price.

Try logging out of google, clearing your cookies and changing your IP address.

What YOU see in google is not always what everyone else sees.

I've been shocked many times when I thought a site wasn't ranking.... but when I search from a different machine/ip address, I found out it is.

Its a good start but lots of work to get such strong backlinks. Great post thanks for sharing.
