Yep. You're so right when you tell people to stop looking around for the methods etc.
I've been around for a long time and I've tried so many different things and been in so many different JVs online and the thing that's had the greatest impact on me is the mindset changes. A lot of people think "Oh, that's all just theory-garbage, what matters is solid methods that make money", but they're so wrong.
A few mindset changes can have *dramatic* affects on your life. Not just how much money you make, but how you feel. When I said above about how I've noticed changes since changing my thinking from future to present what I mean is my level of happiness/comfort. When I was thinking about the future most of the time I felt tense, tight and just generally not relaxed. I wasn't what most would call stressed, but there was tension. Now that I just focus on the present and just *completely let go* of the future, putting my faith/trust in myself/god/the university/infinity, I find that I have a wave of calm. My body and mind feel relaxed and refreshed, and guess what? When you feel like that you become amazing at solving the day to day problems that you feared in the past.
I don't want to get religious, as what I'm talking about kind of transcends any one religion, but if you look at a lot of the most successful/happy people you'll see they're people of faith. What religion calls 'faith' is something very practical that can be used in business. Whether it's faith in yourself, the universe, whatever god you believe in, it doesn't matter. Just having that faith that the future will take care of its self if you take care of the day to day stuff. Anyone familiar with the 'law of attraction', 'reality creation', 'napoleon hill' etc will recognize that real reality creation comes from faith/belief. Basically just 'knowing' everything is going to be ok.
I popped out for a drive earlier tonight and I was thinking about when it's good to think in the future, because obviously we do need to plan stuff, right? The answer hit me..
When you're planning your business and thinking about the future stick with the WHAT, ie, "what am I going to do. I'll build this site, have this on it, do this and do that." That's a plan. What you want to avoid thinking about is the HOW. How will you build the site? How will you do this, how will you do that and so on. So to create your reality you decide the what, then you simply let go of ALL the hows and work on each thing day to day having faith/belief that the hows will work themselves out as you progress. What happens is you free yourself from tension and your mind becomes like a conduit for information/ideas/intuition/creativity and day to day you're able to just solve the hows with absolute ease.
I'm starting a mobile web design site and there's a million things ahead of me, but today all I've been focused on is my business plan. When that's done I'll focus on doing my web site, then gathering leads, then cold calling. I could worry about things like, what will I say on the phone, how will I keep track of my leads, what shall I use for emailing/templates, how will I take payment, what if they want to pay cash, what if they want to do this. I could go on and on for hours and I'm sure many of you can relate to that kind of future 'how' thinking, so rather than all that I just decide "what", ie, "I'm going to phone up leads with the intention of getting them to accept an email with more information". Simple. When the time comes to do it I'll deal with whatever problems arise on that day, but not sooner.
Another thing I forgot to mention that is a key thing to success. It stems from the 80/20 rule. Stop striving for perfectionism. As hard as it is, accept that you're not perfect and you're not going to do everything perfectly. Just get the job done. Can't create an amazing, brilliant site? Who cares, just get *a* site up. 20% of the effort, 80% of the results.
And lastly one of the other crucial keys to success is the ability to make quick decisions. It doesn't matter if you're wrong. It's better to make a quick decision and be wrong, than spend weeks deciding on something so that you may be right. When I say quick I mean DAMN QUICK. Almost instant decisions. If you ever get a chance look at CEO's etc. The good ones make ultra quick, crucial decisions and they stick by their decision. That means don't second guess yourself, it doesn't mean be stubborn, ie, if your decision turns out to be wrong admit it's wrong, accept responsibility like a boss and make another decision.
Long post, but I'm in a creative mood and a lot of stuff is really clear in my head just now so that's why I'm sharing.
