I have learnt so much from this forum that I thought I should give something back :)

I wanted to show how you can check out a niche and set up a site with content in 1 day. I've done this recently having being inspired by @hekke .

I will share the the niche, site URL, etc. Please don't be a **** and hunt me down and penalise the site.

This is so people can learn. Let's begin.

Okay...we're off :)

Went to https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers/zgbs

You need to use your own initiative here but have a look around. Had a look under under office products, furniture, desk & workstations and saw adjustable desk for $100+ .

Quick check on Google Keyword Planner and "best adjustable desk" is 170 US searches per month...too low to create a dedicated niche site around. However, Google Keyword Planner is showing me "best standing desk" at 2900 per month...worth investigation.

PS: If I am stepping on someones niche, please let me know and I will stop ASAP!
 
Go for high value item, $75+. Avoid the electronics niches as they tend to pay lower commission. As I'm based in the UK I cannot actually (without tools) see the US SERP results for "best standing desk". Anyway, lets not complicate this with keyword research "blah blah"....let go for this niche.
 
Right, domain name. Use the keyword and add some words to the start/end until you find a domain that's free to register.

If it's free always check http://whois.domaintools.com/ as the domain might have been registered before. If its has, for this type of site avoid (unless you want to get into the realm of building sites on expired domains)
 
Amazingly, a near match domain was free and previously unregistered.

Registered it on NameCheap using WhoIs and fake name/address detail.

Now for the hosting....
 
Hosting

Went on to http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4

Found a hosting provider for peanuts (less than $10 per year). Set up an account with them. Just waiting or the nameserver details and acccess to cpanel so can install Wordpress.

Phew :) just under 50 minutes in.

Still waiting for hosting details.....come on, trying to do this in under 1hr!

Not done any keyword or competition research as such, going to let the site decide the competition rather that some tools.

Still waiting for the hosting detail...arghh!

Anyway..lets get on with content.

Type your niche keyword into Amazon and open the top 5 products (above $50/$100 if you can) in a separate window tab.

This is the slightly tricky bit:

You now need to go to iwriter (or some other content provider) and set up 6 jobs:
1x home page (best....)
5x product reviews

First buying guide ordered. 1000 words premium content = $10.50

Also ordered 5x 300 word product review articles. This was "basic" content so 5x $2

Total costs so far:

Domain $10
Hosting $10
Homepage article $11
Product review articles 5x $2 = $10

Total cost so far: $41

Details come though from hosting provider. Changed nameservers and installed WordPress.

Site not live yet, still showing default hosting page,

4 of my articles are currently being written on iWriter...lets see the quality when they get delivered. To be honest, this site is not WireCutter....if its readable, it will do :)
 
Yeah! Site is now live. No content yet (default WordPress site), but just under 2 hours in to this project.

Come on iWriter!!! Expecting first article within the 3 hour mark. Let's see.
 
Thanks for the comment. Never checked the competition, thought I would do this differently....I'm calling it "SERP fishing" :)

Throw a basic site into Google and see what (keywords) you can catch.

First article received from iWriter (product review). Added to site along with an Amazon stock image.
