So my lil cousin has a used Xbox 360 slim 250 GB HDD with Kinect and a controller. We called GameStop to see how much they would give him for it if he traded it in for an Xbox One.

They told him $375! That's a lot and almost pays for the X1 itself. (Now they are $399 WITHOUT the Kinect) That just leaves you $24 short (not counting tax)

There's bunches of 360s for sale on classified sites and FB yard sale groups.

All you do is get one cheap.. trade it in for a lot more.. get the X1.. then don't open the X1 and turn around and sell it online on the sites that you would buy it from.

Or you can take the X1 to WalMart or other retailers and get $400 in store credit since you don't have the receipt.

Now, I haven't tried this method but we did call and that is what they told us the trade in value would be towards an X1. Haven't called about PS3/PS4 trade in values so that might could work for that as well.

I don't have the extra cash to test this out so figured I'd share it to you guys to see if it might help.:)

Are you sure that wasn't Xbone OR cash?

May be worth trying out first.

He's on a church trip at the moment and comes back next week then we are going to try it out.

He's only 14 and wants the X1 so we can game together over live so he won't be trying to sell it.. but yea that's what they told us when we called about the trade in value of the 360 towards the X1 @ GameStop. That's a slim 360 btw, 250 GB HDD AND a Kinect with it.

Are you getting $375 for just the xbox and 250gb hard drive? For some reason I feel this is too good to be true.

No a controller AND a kinect also. That's what the guy said. I didn't believe it either.. so we're going to call again and go down there when he gets back in a few days.

EDIT: That's the slim version. Or w/e the newest model is.

When you return an item to a store and don't have a receipt, you have to show identification and sign a paper. Your info goes into their computer system. You can't keep returning things without a receipt. They will think you're stealing the stuff and that you're a drug addict. You'll be banned from the store.

Then sell it on Ebay, or classifieds ad site.. FB yard sale groups.. it's not rocket science

Did you ever get to try it in the store and see if they truly will give you that much ?

Why are you telling me this? I don't care what the kid does with his xbox. lol I was just addressing the part where the op said to exchange them at the store.

I'm extremely skeptical about this, since GameStop is usually the devil when it comes to trading in/selling your used stuff. Let us know what you find out when your friend gets back.

When you go in with the xbox your going to get a way lower price. That's more than someone would pay on ebay and that's very unlikely to be gamestop. They are known for paying the lowest price just to earn x5 more lol They told me $8 for a perfect condition PS3 controller... For that amount of money I'd rather give it to my dog to play with lol

lol yea no kiddin. I never trade in stuff through them. Their system should be illegal imo. I just heard of sometimes they give you a lot more trade in value if you trade up to a newer system.. but guess this isn't the case.
