A little background: A few years ago I was uploading short videos (most < 2 minutes, many < 1 minute) daily on a YT news channel and earning a little money directly plus pushing viewers to a related website and earning again. Since the videos were current hot topics I had great CTR and since the videos were so short I had awesome retention. The website had other articles in addition to the topics covered in the videos so it also had excellent retention and returning visitors. Unfortunately after YT changed their monetization policies I stopped uploading and I haven't even checked on the channel in ages.

Fast forward to today and I jump on to find that the channel is still generating some views even though all the content in ancient news. I get to thinking I should resurrect the channel and try to build it to monetization. But then I think about all the other sites you can upload short videos to these days and how I don't want to rely 100% on YT anyway. So I'm thinking that I should keep my videos under 1 minute and upload them to YouTube, FaceBook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Instagram etc. and direct all that traffic back to my site for monetization, then I don't really care if any of those channels ever make money directly.

My question is, would it be better to put the same hook in multiple ponds so to speak (same video uploaded to multiple platforms) or different hooks/videos in each? It's obviously a lot more work to put together different videos for each platform but I'm thinking it might be worth it.

Act as an authority site, they create one video with a logo and post it on all platforms with links. Maybe try 3 mins to 4 mins videos. Its going to generate some good traffic to your site.

One video multiple sites. Is a lot less work, and i dont think wasting the resources to make different videos for each platform worth the effort. It should be ok i guess, unless you want to rank for google the same video in multiple sites, but if you want the people of facebook, twitter, tiktok, etc to watch the video directly in the platform, and not from organic google results, i wont care making more videos, just posting in more places is a best option for me.

Thanks @Nut-Nights and @Koffein for your replies!

So @Koffein you're thinking that if I just want to direct people from facebook, twitter, tiktok etc. to my site then the same video is fine. But if I want to rank each of those videos in google (presumably to attract followers to each of those accounts) then I would need to do unique videos, correct? Maybe I could do a bit of both. Say 6 days a week do the same video everywhere and 1 day a week do separate videos.

My though is each platform has his own algoritm, and his own user base, so likely different followers on different platforms for the same brand/content. So i don't see the point of doing different content considering google's algo if you want facebook visualisations. But if you want youtube videos ranking on google, then yeah, it makes sense to consider google's algo. And maybe there is where you should make that only slightly different content, so if google discovers your other platforms videos might be ok, because "is not the same content posted on youtube"
