Possible to beat Amazon in Google for a niche site?

As a random example let's say your website is all about selling toy cars for kids and amazon has rankings for that in the top 2 on Google, do you think it would be possible to outrank them?

Yes, you can certainly outrank inner pages on authority sites. Especially if you're explicitly/specifically going for that keyword when they're ranking mainly due to the sole fact that they're on a large authority site. It depends on the keyword, of course. If the person selling the product on that Amazon page is decent at SEO and wants to keep it pushed to the top in the SERPs, you might have a harder time.

No you cant outrank amazon for main keywords. It requires lots of efforts.
 
Might not be able to outrank them, but if you can be 3rd with little effort, why not take 3rd? Still some traffic and some sales for a lot less work.

Yes you can outrank amazon; in your case it means reaching the #1 spot anyway; and it will require a lot of links, but it is possible.

You have to check if these amazon pages get links or not, as it could be SEOed by the guy who owns the product on amazon, it which case it could be very hard to beat them; if not, you can beat them, but you may have to spend quite a bit.

you need to understand that what is impossible for you does not have to be impossible for all of us; just look at the serps a bit more thoroughly, and you will see that amazon is often beaten; how come?

as I said it is hard especially if they are #1 (versus say #5), and it will cost a lot of money, including in the toy niche, which is not particularly low competition (but not too high either).

Out of all the parasites, amazon product listings are the best
But lol any decent site can beat amazon listings, as they are filled with drivel most of the times
 
Amazon is not so easy to outrank but its possible.
 
I've typed in some keywords in the past where Amazon was not the first couple of links. So I know it must be possible. But like others have said. It probably takes a mass load of effort to do it. So you should weight your time/effort against potential ROI, and compare that with ranking lower on the first page.

Many things are possible. It will depend on your work...
