Possibility to donate thread author

What do you think about the possibility to donate the author of the thread? There would be more motivation to create method/journey threads
Personally I would donate several threads as they are really useful for me and helped me to earn money.

This seems like a solid idea on paper but poses some interesting problems:

- The members will try to game the system, creating fake threads, and attempting to make a profit from it.
- People making chargebacks on those donations against the system.
- The amount of coding this would require, assuming the XenForo framework doesn't already have a plugin for this.
- There will be a moderator needed just to regulate this feature alone. To handle the complaints and whatnot.

I would vote no because of the problems it can pose for a system that's already being upgraded as we speak.

I totally agree with you , there are far more cons then pros on top i never saw something like that as an inbuild feature...

Just dm the author and ask him how you can support him, easy & effective!

I think this was a feature in the old version of BHW... you could add your PayPal to your profile. Highly doubt it was ever used.

3.10 Charitable donations - any links / threads relating to charity donations should be processed through approved charity pages on http://justgiving.com or similar.

I personally can't see this getting implemented because, in addition to what @PHPInjected posted above, we'd have members running amok shoving their donations button in everyone's face. Asking users for donations, drawing attention to their donations button, stealing I mean "syndicating" content from other people's blogs, making the main text tiny whilst posting their red-fonted EXTRA BIG ASS donations button... Fires would be everywhere, there would be looting and mass hysteria. The apocalypse would be upon us and only a few would survive, more specifically those clad in unfathomable layers of denim and leather driving Mad Max style vehicles.
