I have realised my productivity at home is really poor. I have been working at home since the pandemic.

In particular i can get up at a set time, but i spend alot of time answering emails and watching YouTube videos. I have tried setting a fixed schedule and using a stopwatch but i feel i have too much on my mind and i overthink things and cannot get started on the tasks i need to. Can anyone advise any tips they might use to stay focused at home please? I really need to try improve my productivity.

Thank you for any help you can give. Take care and best wishes.

This is what I'm dealing with. Fucking ideas keep popping out of nowhere that sometimes my brain even froze. Maybe this will help u , start taking action on some of the ideas. Some of my ideas need a lot of money to be invested and it's hard to stop thinking about them and I have to it myself, as the fact that nobody believe in my ideas but myself. Starting slow , maybe it can help.

Can anyone advise any tips they might use to stay focused at home please?
Get rid of YouTube and instead of thinking start doing.

Hahah @Leader777 we have the same genius brain. My mind is crazy glad to hear i am not the only one. I have ideas of running a stock brokerage firm like Interactive Brokers. A site that sells ebooks, a hosting company. Too many ideas, many would cost too much money and i dont have the correct skills.

Take care and best wishes.

I am struggling with the same thing. I'm working from home since forever, it's not a problem, but I think the issue is when there are too many things to do or to think of, my productivity goes to sh.

"Spreading urself too thin" it's called, I think.

What I'm now trying is to write to-do lists and processes. (example - setting up a new server is "a process" because it's always the same sequence of tasks)

This way I don't have to think about what I do so much. It helps a little but my mind is still a f* mess.

I 'suffered' procrastination for a while (before covid). Best thing to do:
- do the easy stuff first then more time consuming ones.
- reward yourself watching yt or playing games only after you finish work.
- schedule checking emails for late morning (10-11)
- kanban boards help if you commit to them, even to do lists on paper work, makes you tense when less lines are stroked through.
- finish breakfast / lunch less than 30 min, don't watch stuff during meals; eat, drink, pee, poo and get back to work (please wash).
- casual calls, you reply "sorry, im working right now. can I call evening time?".
- before bed write the stuff that distract you, and slice them in your daily afternoon schedule.
once you maintain your time within work parameter, only then you can schedule work by the hour (or stopwatch as you mentioned). example:
