Wanted to do a poll on how everyone pays for their content. Pay per word or pay per hour?

I've started a new project and will be needing regular monthly content and was wondering which was the best approach to take?

To me it seems like pay per word is the cheaper route?

Would be interested to hear everyones opinion on what they do and why and any tips you have.

I don't believe in paying VA's/Writers by the hour. They'll just slack off and do nothing. For a fixed price/pay per word however they'll get shit done. all thats required from then is quality control. at least thats how I do it

I always pay per words, anyway I cannot afford a full time VA yet. But I think per word you would get the best results, unless you are a big team where people and writers could be paid by the hour or monthly.

Seems like a big vote for pay per word. I also see the benefit in it. The fact that they can't then muck around and waste time and bill you for it takes risk out from you as a buyer .

Per word/per project, I don't believe in hours, when I write I do 1-3 hours of reading/researching and 1 hour of actual writing and on top of that 30-45 minutes of proofreading, correcting, replacing...

Finally, gotta take into account shit like writer's block, slacking off, procrastinating...

There's more to it than just writing, I wouldn't have the heart to charge people by the hour.
