POF can be awesome if you work it right. For starters, make sure and mess around with their demographic research tool. It can help you really narrow down / define your potential audience.
Then you need to run a ton of split-tests with both demographics and ads. You cannot skip this part. Demographics that are too broad will be losers.
Ideally you'd use a POF ad spinner of some kind here (I've created my own for my use). But you need to create ads for a bunch of pretty narrow demographic slices and track the heck out of your results.
The really cool thing is with POF (like FB) is that when you find a winner it can really take off. But when you start slicing up the demographics you'll quickly see why most campaigns are losers. It's because the demographics don't match.
Also, I've never had a ton of success dumping clicks to anything long-form. Lead captures, squeezes, proofs, and other bridges will typically work best. But test and track for your situation.
