So I was reading this thread and saw some really, really stupid comments from reputable BHW members (Posting that kind of thread is itself very stupid, IMO).

This is a SEO and Marketing forum - we talk about making money here. What is the point in posting something like that in a Marketing/SEO forum? Even if its in the lounge?

If you're really desperate to talk about politics or religion or stuff like that, please go to some forums that are dedicated to those topics. You'll get better and more replies.

Sure we can talk about music, gaming or other entertainment topics - but politics and religion is something way more sensitive. We don't want to see
    "DP type" BHW, do we?

So for heavens sake, stop posting crap like that.

I agree that more discretion needs to be taken when posting on here... some things are better unsaid.

Also, if you see a thread that sets you off just dial it back and not go off half cocked saying things that you would not say in front of your grandmother or mother.

I also agree. I usually nuke threads like that as soon as they come to life, but I just had to state my opinion.

But this is why religion and politics are not allowed here. This is an IM forum with many members from all over the world with different views. People should think before posting. Life would be much easier.

Isn't the point of the lounge a place where we can talk about other things rather than IM? Just saying.

Oh, I don't know. This is also a Black Hat forum, and at least as far as I'm concerned, how I'm "wired" is that someone telling me what I can't do, can't say, can't talk about just makes me want to do it even more. And I'm pretty good with words, too. There's lots of ways to convey meaning that is contrary to established policy that do not directly violate whatever rules may be established to prevent it. This thread is one good example. You say we should not talk about a Muslim Ms. Universe pageant contestant that has had death threats, yet here's your thread talking about talking about a Muslim Ms. Universe pageant contestant that has had death threats.

The simplist way to illustrate this is to request a list of all the words that are prohibited, when publishing those words is itself a violation of the rules. Paradox, catch-22 and unenforceable except by arbitrary and authoritarian dictate, which renders the "rules" meaningless and the "rulemaker" merely a manipulative despot, and those that obey the non-existant rules become voluntary participants to the charade, and well HELLO BLACK HAT, I think that's the reason why we all crossed the line to begin with; we realized the rules are a sham and are nothing more than one group trying to use the rules in order to have unfair advantage over another group, which is fine because all is fair in love and war, but that doesn't mean I (we) have to volunteer for it.

I think it's better to allow things to cross a line where most people agree on, and then close the thread, mete-out punishement if necessary, etc... rather than trying to proactively prohibit something that cannot be defined anyways. Waste of time, and encourages a lack of respect, as well as challenges those who understand the above into circumventing the rules for illustrative purposes and self-entertainment.

Oh my God! No offense but you should learn reading properly.
I didn't endorse that thread, smartass. I just linked to it to show people how retarded that was and how retarded those comments were!

Did you take your brain supplements today?

As if mods were robots working 24/7 without caring about their own business.

The strength of this forum is it's focus. We talk and share ideas about SEO, IM, making money in general and raising productivity.

Another huge strength of BHW is a broad variety of perspectives. We have people from all over the world posting here. People from different countries, different cultures, different religions. BHW would not be what it is today if it only had people from the US, or only from a single faith, or single race.

Flame wars distract from productivity. Threads about religion and politics build divisiveness.

What matters is what you know about making money. This is why we all come here. Let's keep it that way.

Yes that's the point. Talk about games, entertainment, movies, comics or anything that doesn't target a specific race/religion/country/group.

Talking about naked women and rape artists is nowhere near respectable.

(Now I see someone telling me that I talked about those in my own post :p)

Op, I respect your position on the matter but there's just no way to predict the future of any particular thread. An IM thread can also turn into what you describe. So I think the best solution is to click that report button and all of us contribute to that manner.

    And let the mods decide.

True, but I think the point of the OP was to not START threads like this. And I have to agree. I've been sucked into these type of threads and have wasted time trying to convince someone else of my beliefs, which is counter productive and only leads to frustration in my opinion. I'm sure the people on the other side of that discussion felt the same way about me. And not to offend anyone, but theres that old saying, "Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics....even if you win you're still retarded"

Maybe it's the "supplements" that are your problem. I understood what you posted, and I understood what I posted, but I don't think you understood what I posted.

Why is it that advocates for censorship so frequently fail to understand what other people are telling them, and then assume that failure is a result of someone else's stupidity?

Why limit anything? Some people like talking about different subjects and ya it's a marketing forum but who cares. I can't for the life of me understand why people complain about these kinds of threads, if you don't like it don't click the link easy as that. Don't go in if it disturbs you or if you don't think it will help your IM. Also a lot of us can deal with different opinions and not have to get into personal attacks, people that get personal are going to do that with any subject they disagree with.

I was once given very good advice to never argue with a fool in public; people watching soon won't be able to tell which is the fool.

I agree with the OP and many threads I won't even look at. If I see the topic is controversial then no need to waste time. Usually it's just someone wanting to stir controversy, build thanks or bait an argument. I think any topic not related to IM should be tossed. Half of the nonsense threads are brought here from other forums where they should have stayed! Plenty of bullshit forums to read nonsense if that's what you're into. Threads about fleshlights, chicken beaks, banging chicks on POF, jacking off and such should be cut from here. I saw one girl say she wishes BHW wasn't such a sausage fest. I agree and I'm male.

Kill the abuse threads (animals and humans), jack off and sex toys threads at least. Not sure wtf those have to do with making money.

I read your following statement twice just to make sure I don't miss a single word.

Now that you say I failed to understand what you were telling me, would you please be generous enough to elaborate what exactly did you mean by:
You've been a member for a month and arguing that BHW rules give an unfair advantage to one group over another? Do you mind telling us what are those two "groups" you talk about?

Political and religious discussion is not allowed on BHW because past
experience has shown us that invariably those two topics often incite
"flame wars". People have strong opinions about those two topics and
therefore, it is best to exclude them from BHW. As BK said above,
there are countless other forums and blogs which people can use
as a platform for expressing their religious and political views. BHW
    is NOT one of them.

Another thing that needs to be clarified is that BHW is NOT a
democracy and although its members can use the Black Hat
Lounge to generally talk about almost anything, we (the staff)
reserve the right to edit, censor or delete threads and posts
that are vulgar, idiotic, sexist, racist, mean-spirited, or anything
else that we feel may be inappropriate or that may serve as a
distraction to the forum as a whole.

Just try to exercise some DISCRETION when you post, and ask
yourself (before you post) if you think what you are about to post
is actually going to benefit the forum in-general.

    Thanks B-Hatters! :)
