Hello. I'm desperate for some help here as this is really important for me.

So I use a Mac, but I've gotten a Windows VPS and I pay monthly for it. I connect to it with Remote Desktop (RDC) for Mac.

I paid extra to have an additional static IP per month. So I've got 2 static IPs to connect to now.

Let's say for example, I've got these IPs: xx.xx.11 and xx.xx.22.

So I enter in xx.xx.11 to the Remote Desktop Connection and log in with my Windows user & password. I then go on whatismyip.com to check my IP and it matches to xx.xx.11.

However, when I connect to my other IP xx.xx.22, I go to whatismyip.com to check and it doesn't match. Instead, it's my other one: xx.xx.11.

I asked my provider about this and was told that they couldn't help me, and that I'd have to "configure the IP". I asked how to do this, and was told to "Google my problems", but can't seem to find anything that helps.

I want to have 2 Windows users. For example, connect to IP xx.xx.11, log in with user Bob, and only use that static IP for Bob. Then, connect to my other static IP xx.xx.22, log in with another user (John), and only use that IP for John. Understand what I mean?

I've just had problems with literally EVERYTHING recently and I'm really hoping I can get this thing solved as it's quite important. Thanks a ton in advance.

The OS the VPS is running is Windows 2003 by the way.

I dont think its possible to use both the ips. You have to configure the ips. Goto network settings and right click on the properties. Click on IPV4 and put in your ip address subnet mask and gateway there.

I think 2 IP's are meant for incoming purpose only. Say when you configure the DNS and have few sites, you'll set a IP for each site and each site will act as a virtual host. So whenever the request comes to your site, the DNS will return one IP at that time and 'll be resolved upon reaching the gateway. And the outgoing connection is from a single gateway and that's why you see a single IP for both hosts in whatismyip. I am not very sure about it though.

Well I actually need the 2 different IPs not for website hosting purposes..But for eBay stealth accounts. I need to have a different IP for each when I sign into each account.

Thanks for the quick replies though. Hopefully I get more and get this solved! This is going to upset me so much if I don't get it worked out

Well there's your first problem lol..

Using VPS for the purpose of having multiple IPs is ridiculous! Just use proxies or a VPN.. maybe a VPN was what you wanted in the first place anyway lol.. NOT a VPS..

Well using a proxy or VPN for eBay is an absolute no. I've seen & read so multiple times. It's detected very easily

Are you sure class C IP's are better bet than having 2 completely different VPN?

All I know is that it's an absolute no to use a proxy or VPN with eBay as they detect them....

the only way i know of to use other ip's installed on a windows box (without changing de default ip) is to install a socks/proxy server on the box and make it bind on the secondary ip(s) and then set the proxy inside your browser...

I do not thing it is possible to achieve what are you trying.

By default on the machine you will have 1 IP. Is like you will try to put 2 IP on your local computer and use them differently depending on the user and from what I know this is not possible.

Is a big difference between the IP of the VPS and the IP you use to connect to it. That VPS is loaded on a linux but when you connect to the web via a VPS you are using the windows feature.

What I will suggest to you is to get a linux VPS and set-up a high anonymous proxy server or change the main IP of the windows VPS before each connection.

Although using a VPS only for that is not the best solution from my point of view.

If you thing to go for a high anonymous proxy server let me know and I can help you with that.

i think i did not make myself clear enough :) on the browser of the same vps :) doesn't need to be on your home pc

    example:
google chrome uses the default ip: *.11
firefox sets socks proxy to *.22 and accesses the net through *.22
