Hey guys, here with observations, statements, queries, and a revelation or two.
I've been away from the IT industry for a decade, it was a fun adventure. I've enjoyed being able to broaden my scope of life and think outside the proverbial box that is the IT world. I went into the world of project management, transportation, (trucks, trains, and then aviation), sales, and then finance. I enjoyed finance the most. It was so great. I'm looking forward to going back to a less stressful capacity someday, maybe.
Here I am today, sitting in front of my beautiful late 2012 iMac 27" that I've mounted on a sleek arm with my amazing keyboard and mouse, (there is something to be said about making sure your work station makes you happy. It's worth it to buy quality.)
Some of the observations I have for you...
The forum world hasn't changed or evolved in over 20 years. The last major evolution of the forum was when the internet killed the BBS. I hosted one of those back in the day and I'm pretty sure that 99.5% of the people reading this (if anyone does) won't know what that was. All in all the Forum scene hasn't really changed, people aren't slapping each other with trout and IRC isn't really a thing, some diehards are still using it but the power-hunger ops have moved on to bigger and better things.
Geeks are cool now? That's a thing, I hadn't really noticed until I started sourcing some older technology on message boards and online market places and I found that a lot of the geeks out there are pretty cool. Not all locked in their mom's basements with the lights off. That's nice.
What happened to technology loyalty? That used to be such a thing, or maybe it was just me, I always thought that there was the purest mentality of the true techy that would have them find solutions to making technology work or be available that just should exist. I'm shocked that there isn't a Thunderbolt 2 NVME M.2 PCIe out there somewhere. The native 20GBPS would be more than enough to support the full speed and all of the ancient computers out there (mine included would be ever so grateful!
Finally, YAY WYSIWYG! Wordpress with all of it's infinite themes and contributors really make it easier than it's even been to allow people that should be designing sights to design sites! LOL. I'm one of them for sure.
My goal here is to teach myself how to build an e-Commerce site that will incorporate a members section, paid members section, generate qualified leads to be sold, sell my eBooks, and gather information on it's clients in order to use social media tuned marketing to market to their profile clones. All whilst using wordpress.
And if you have any thunderbolt ideas, lemme know too! Thanks guys!
